I'm a screenwriter, but also heading into all realms of writing hopefully. Intern at Warner Brothers and I've got a great mentor. The following song was inspired by Green Day's 'Basket Case' in which Billy Joel Armstrong explains what it feels like having depersonalization anxiety disorder.
ANXIOUS PARANOIA
Sit in class and look around,
Everyone put together and well in bound.
Watch the clock as sweat protrudes,
Are they staring straight at me?
Walk these streets and watch my step,
As radios play and people surround me.
Step in line and lose my mind,
Try to walk in a straight line.
Pick up a phone and call the girl,
Stare at the numbers till I go numb.
Fear takes over and mind grows wary,
Press the final tone and pray I’m not alone.
Paranoia clouds my mind!
Spinning faces out of time.
They’re all waiting to judge me!
Always second guessing and never good enough,
Walk in scattered circles till I’m in a frenzy!
Is this good or is this wrong,
Will I end up a freak and all alone?
Get to the party and try not to worry,
Their my friends and know all about it!
Look around at the crowd seeing new faces abound,
Has my sanity left me?
Is it all just in my mind,
This world that revolves around me?
These faces watching,
Am I up on a stage?
