You needn't hate us too much, Lady. We're not even up to half a billion yet. And as our ways spread to the rest of the world, other people will eventually eat themselves to death as well.
I personally think we went wrong with our compassion. With every other species, only the strong and the lucky survive. Humans have this strange desire to help the less fortunate.
I was originally going to say modern medicine, but I'd hate to be the one to argue for the return of epidemics and deaths from simple infections.
