Hi Montejocarlo, I think it's possible to build up to distance by combining jogging/walking, and increasing the ratio of jogging to walking as fitness improves. Walking itself is great for fitness.
Well, honestly I'm not too sure about my choice either. I just took it as it felt right to me. I hope psychology works for you.

Well, I love it. Its really interesting, can be tough at times though (specially since I'm such a lazy a$$)
