Haircuts and anxiety

Hey everyone,

I really hate going to the hairdresser - lots of people staring and lots of small chat etc. I haven`t had a haircut in almost five years so I really need one. The fact that I haven`t cut my hair in so long makes it hobo esque and even more embarassing for me to sit in a chair with everyone looking at me. So my aunt found a place where there`s a waiting room but the actual cut happens in a seperate room - just you and the hairdresser. Perfect. I`m suppossed to go this week but am worried because the few times I was meant to go in the past few years I chickened out.

Just wondering if anyone else gets this anxious about haircuts as well

I used to get real nervous about getting my haircut. But now I just go in, tell them how short I want it and 10 minutes later I'm out the door. I used to worry about the barber talking to me, but the place I go to they're not interested in conversation. So I just sit there and relax and that's my haircut done.

Yeah it's not a big deal. I didn't say much to the barber either. Just do it. It took me years to finally do it, and I wonder what all the fuss was about.

Your mind can be your best friend or your worst enemy. It's all up to you.

Omg, don't mention it. I had a haircurt before 2 months, but before that I did'n visit hairdresser for abouth 6 or 7 months. It is very stressful for me. I HATE mirrors there because I can see myself blushing when I get panicked and then it's worse..I panick even more. Next month I have to go again and now I'm already nervous about it, that's s.ck's..
If I were a boy, I would never go to a hairdresser..I would buy that machine and do it at home..

i try to put off getting a haircut for as long as possible even though i hate when my hair starts to get long. I hate going to a place where they don't stop talking to you. I have being going to a place for a while and the guy there is quiet and doesn't keep blabbing on which i prefer and the awkward silences i don't mind as much

Haircuts are one of my worst, if not THE worst anxiety provoking situation for me. Small talk about things i don't even care about.. etc.

I never liked getting haircuts. I like my hair short without any particular style so I cut it myself nowadays. It's easier since I would always tend to put off a haircut way too long and I also save some money doing it myself as well.

haha that's a kick ass avatar dezzy

I went to a barber only once in the last .. uh 6 or 7 years. My hair is very straight and wiry stiff so it's not like they can make a style out of it. So there's no point in going to a barber anyway. Might as well cut it myself

I'm actually about to give myself a haircut again tonight

I hate going to get my hair cut! I haven't in years. My sister took cosmetology classes, so when I really need it, she does it. Thank god! I hate going to get it done for the reasons you listed. It's always crowded and it's a bunch of women gossiping and I feel like they're judging me lol.
