does anyone else have this problem? any great ideas?
i tend to be awake at night for some reason. it tends to be more relaxing and quiet but hardly anyone is online at night.
i don't know anyone right now who would be on at night w/ me that i'd trust to talk to. i also find myself if i go outside i get tired easily and then sleep in the day and i actually like sleeping in the day when the sunlight is there but nighttime is good too when i'm really tired but when i don't sleep throughout the whole night this causes me to be irritated at night b/c of nothing to do.
i recall theslowesthand used to be my partner but now his meds changed him. i recall he used to say '**** feck.. ' and that type of stuff when he was really bored and he was really suffering from boredom and he really changed and I'm glad for him but what about me right now, what should i do? thank you all

I've been experiencing this issue for the last few months, myself. Mainly from the stress and unnecessary family drama caused since the summer last year. Anyway, I take yer nocturnal like me - tired during the day, but alert at night, no?

Have you tried listen to some music via YouTube? One of ambient music, chill-out electronic or instrumental piano music compilations? That's what I do if I'm have trouble sleeping at night. My only other suggest would be, either, reading a book or playing a musical instrument that could still play while using so headphones. :idontknow:

I used to have this problem for many years. I'd stay up till early morning every day. I didn't feel tired at night. And i'd sleep in till the afternoon. I think my "body clock" was out of whack. I still seldom feel tired at night, but i force myself to go to bed anyway. And i don't allow myself to sleep in till afternoon. Over time, my habits & body clock have gotten back to "normal".

Don't give up jinxed! Keep trying! These things take time! :)

^ This is what I'd advise as well. Oh, and if you could get into a routine of going to bed by certain time, that'll also help yer sleeping pattern and body-clock, hopefully.

yes i shouldn't forget that things like this can take time. it was probably b/c i slept until 4pm that day even though i went out for quite long! i bought a pinkish-purple winter jacket 'cause i was bored and wanted a cheer-up. i still can't quite get it straight though with my sleeping pattern. i wonder if there's anyone else there like me? And who has a good sleeping pattern, how do they do it?

Well, a few months ago, I slept until 2 o'clock in the afternoon. Could I sleep later that night? Could ah f*ck! :kickingmyself:

I've got a good sleeping pattern, since I tend to wake up in the wee hours. But here's my advice...

  • Pick a certain time for going to bed, and stick to it every night.
  • Keep use of the smartphone or android tablet to a minimum, a hour at most.
  • And, if yer sleep patterns really all over the place, you could buy a sleep mask? :idontknow:

Sleeping has always been a bit of a struggle for me. It is something I always look to work on, as I feel diet and sleep are two of the most important things not only with physical health, but also with mental health. When I'm tired, I don't function as well.

In my experience, I've found the following things to be helpful:

Stay on a consistent sleep schedule. Go to bed at around the same time every night, and wake up at the same time every morning. Even if you're not tired, go to bed. And get out of bed even if you're still tired in the morning. Eventually you body will figure out the schedule.

Don't eat or drink right before bed. I think most sources say around 2 hours before, but the longer the better. Your body takes a while to digest food, and you don't sleep as well if your body is digesting food. If I eat too much before bed, I find I'm completely irritable and can't even sit still.

On the topic of food, eat a big breakfast. It jump starts your metabolism for the day, and gives your energy to get through it. You won't want to eat as much at night if start your day strong. And one last bit about food - stay hydrated. It's just important to every aspect of your life, sleep included. If there is a downside to drinking water, I haven't found it yet.

Your bed should be a bed, and nothing more. Don't eat in bed, don't watch tv, don't play on your phone, and if you can help it don't even read (although that I do). Your bed is for sleeping (and sex, if that is something you do). Like your sleep schedule, it conditions your body so that it knows when you are in bed, it's time to sleep. On nights I find my mind racing and I can't sleep, I try to get up and think somewhere else rather than in bed. If I don't, then it happens that I associate my bed with racing thoughts, and my thoughts race as soon as my bed hits the pillow, whereas they should be shutting off.

Minimize screen time. You might want to google this one, as I can't remember if I read it somewhere or just find it to be true in my experience. The more time I spend looking at screens, whether they be my computer screen, tv, or phone, the worse I sleep. I know I have heard more than 4 hours in front of a screen increases depression, which in turn messes with your sleep. The way it makes me feel is like my eyes are dried out though. Again, I don't know the precise reasoning behind this one, but I know I sleep better with less screen time.

Those are the things I would start with, I know there are other tips out there that can help too, I'd try scouring the internet if these don't help. If there are specific issues you're having, I'd search for those. I know for example if you find you're too hot or too cold, sleeping naked helps. It normalizes your bodies temperature, it made a huge difference for me.

Hopefully some of this helps!

Ive always been able to sleep when Ive had time to wind down from the day, journal and write or try to reslove any issues plaguing my mind. If I can get to some kind of point where I feel excited in my goals then thats a bonus.
And the best sleep is loving going to sleep and daydreaming about exciting things you would love to achieve. : )

I tend to go to bed when i'm "had it" (exhausted, from computer stuff & music). That works for me. Usually it equates with anywhere from 12 to 3am, but no worries as i don't have to arise early, as i don't work.

today wasn't a good a day for me, if i could sleep right now it would be wierd.. is any1 like me liking to sleep whenever they like to sleep and then not being able to sleep later?

I used to do that. Doze off in the afternoon, then I bang up at like 4 or 5 o'clock in the evening and not be able to sleep when I eventually went to bed.
