Moving?

I'm thinking about moving by myself across the country. The problem is, I don't know how I'm going to react. The thought of just being alone in a new city with new people hundreds of miles away from everything and everyone I know is just simply nerve wracking, expecially considering I've never spent 2 days away from home. Also, I know that I'm going to have to rent a room or whatever (can't afford a single place), so that means living with strangers. I can barely sleep at a friends house, let alone someones I don't really know.. gah I have panic attacks just thinking about it! It's definitely something I have to do though, for personal reasons, and even if my anxiety flares up like crazy, I'm going to make it happen!

So, my question is; have you ever moved out and if so how'd that go and how'd you deal with it?

I went though a similar situation when I went off to University. I lived in a 6 person "apartment" style dorm and had another student living in the same room. The first few days were definitely the worst but it got easier over time.

After my first year I ended up just living on my own and somewhat regretted it. In my case, I found that having little conversations with roommates made it less stressful when I had to deal with people I didn't know .

No matter what you do-- moving out gives you life experiences you otherwise wouldn't have had to deal with. It makes you grow up.
You're bound to make mistakes, so don't expect not to-- but moving out may give you much more confidence as a person.

I moved out on my own for 3 years after highschool, although I was agoraphobic.
It forced me to do alot of things outside of my comfort zone and I think I grew up alot because of it.
I worked 2 jobs and went to school fulltime (for the first year)and in the end, I had to drop out of college because I wasn't making enough money to pay all of the bills and monthly transit fees to get to school- or for any of the project fees in class.
I'll always be too poor to go to college-- even if I get a maximum amount from OSAP and work 2 jobs, it seems. XD

Just make sure to think ahead and live within your means.

Thanks, that definitely gave me something to think about. Even though I'm scared ****less of moving in with someone I don't know, I feel that living by myself would get too lonely. Not to mention I barely make any human interaction as is (and I live in a house full of people), living alone would only further worsen my SA..

It definitely isn't an easy thing to do. If you believe it can help you in the long run it is probably worth the effort. I moved out of home when i was 16 with my boyfriend, best thing i ever did. We moved within the same city of my parents but a year ago we moved to another state. So i've lived out of home nearly 4 years. I don't know anyone in this state pretty much, but for me it was great to get away from my family and i have my partner as support. I'm not sure i could do it all alone, but if you feel you can somehow - go for it and power to you, super strong thing to do.

It's nerve wracking, I'll be honest.
Two years ago my mum met her (now) husband. Within one year I moved out of the home I'd lived in for eight years and into a village where I knew nobody and I was moving in with a guy I barely knew...
I couldn't even visit the house whilst it was being decorated, I went there once and it just wasn't my home... When I moved in though everything changed, this place has been my sanctuary. I have gotten better and better since moving, it got rid of all the bad memories from the old house and now I only have good ones... Moving could be very very good for you. Honestly.
