If I could wish for anything it would be I wish I had more time for thinking

Ok,small talk is difficult with SA as we all know and when someone trys to speak o me I can't think of anything rather than one word answers. But several hours later I'll think over that conversation again and come up with a great response and wonder how it could of gone.A wasted oppurtunity.

Does this drive anyone else mad?

I'm fortunate as most people I know are all very nice and many are friends with me on facebook, and sometimes when I get into conversations on that I can actually keep a conversation going as I have time to reply.Same with my penpal.

I need a time stopping device or something.What a pointless thread I have here:rolleyes:

Sorry if posted before!

I've had that problem a few times and it takes a while to truly overcome the instinct to stay quiet in certain situations, especially if you're feeling uncomfortable. Perhaps later, you may have a chance to talk to those again and redeem yourself. Don't beat yourself up about it, you will have plenty of other conversation opportunities to work on this. :)

I've had this problem before - but what you need to do is visualize yourself talking to people. Tell yourself that you have plenty of things to say to people when they ask you questions.

This is more of a self-hypnosis technique - just try it and over time it should work for you...basically have to stay consistent though...

This happens all too much for my liking. As well as this happening, i obsess about things i should and shouldnt have said and it can really begin to make me anxious. I can get these like, flashes of the situation and feel highly stressed thinking about it, sometimes i experience a knot in my stomach.

But with some conversations i just think, naturally, "aw i should have said that". It is very common for people to have wanted to say something different, but i think when you have SA it can place anxiety within us and we worry about it.

i do this all the time. i usually think of something to say about 10 seconds after the person i'm talking to walks away. when i do think of something to say, it comes out quickly, and awkwardly, and it makes me so nervous that i lock up after that. so, its nice to be able to have conversations on the internet like this. when u find that time stopping device, let me know. good thread idea, its always good to hear someone say something that u have said to yourself before. have a great day.
