Bullies, bullies, bullies! (sorry if this has been posted)

I don't even know what to say...laughing at someone in a casket. That just says sociopath to me. Ridiculing the poor girl even after she kills herself because of it. I wouldn't shed a tear if these bullies were killed, and i'm not exaggerating at all. Sickening.

Maybe it's the culture. I've read through some of the comments at that article and elsewhere. It seems that that particular school has a high incidence of bullying from the anecdotes I've read.

This particular detail stood out for me as well. I would have gladly beaten that girl's face in.

It was bad enough that Sladjana was being bullied and hit by girls, but one has to wonder what kind of guy would push a girl down the stairs. I'm not even sure I read that right.

I just do not understand. What satisfaction can possibly come out of making others feel ridicule, misplaced, this or that? And they can laugh even after a girl they bullied killed herself?? I... this is so wrong... I feel disgusted.

I know that people tend to feel a sense of superiority when they put others down or judge them. Though, I'm not sure what would compell a bully to attend their victim's wake and laugh at the sight of her body lying in it's casket. And in front of the victim's family!!! I think that some people - those who fit in with the majority - have a false sense of superiority, abd thus believe that those who are different are somehow inferior to them and that's when they feel that tormenting those who are different is justifiable.

I didn't dress like everyone in school and this is partly why kids picked on me. I simply did not feel that I should dress like them. They all dressed alike! This is not an exaggeration and it's not like we wore school uniforms. They called me "antisocial" because I didn't dress like them. Not sharing the majority's taste in clothing makes a person "antisocial".

They ALL wore these shoes and I thought they were hideous:

No offense to those of you who may like them. I'm entitled to my own opinions, and it's not like I'd pick on someone for wearing these shoes. Apparently, I wasn't cool because I wore shell toe ADIDAS, skater shoes and baggy pants instead of tight polyester pants and blouses.

I don't know.. sometimes verbal humiliation can be as bad as physical bullying.

I believe that! Though, I personally would have rather had someone try to hit me because then I would have had no problem hitting them back and I would not have given up until I felt that I was no longer under threat. We know how people have a flight or fight instinct...I react to physical threat or attacks by attacking back. I'm not saying this to look like some bad @ss or anything. That's just how I've always reacted whether my parents hit me, my brother or my peers. Of course, it would only infuriate my parents more when I hit back because you're not supposed to hit your parents back. lol

I only found it difficult to defend myself verbally when I could not speak the language.

Serafina is right on that, haha. I know it's despicable and it will never change until the end of days.

Yeah, bullying is just part of human nature, unfortunately. No anti-bullying program or campaign; no amount of effort on the part of a school will change that. If someone wants to do it, they won't be concerned about the advice of their elders, and they can always avoid the eyes of the school.

I just try to remind myself that not everyone is so malignant.

That is the ugliest shoe I have ever seen. Like, ever. Just goes to show that a group mentality isn't always a good thing.

LOL I couldn't agree more! They even had them in patent leather, baby blue suede, silver, all white with blue details (they were and still are expensive as hell too!). I saw your occasional orange and blue pair. Thank God the popular color was black. ::p:
Sorry folks. I'll stop joshing about now. I didn't mean to make this thread into a joke or anything. I hope you will all take comfort in the fact that something good came out of at least one bullying experience. Namely, the making fun of classic Buffalo boots.

A friend of mine posted that on her Facebook last night, and I just bawled.

I relate to the poor souls who took their own life... I've been in their shoes, just unsuccessful in my mission to die. For some reason... maybe I wasn't supposed to die at 12, 13, 15, and 16... but I digress.

Anyway, it is VERY sickening, and teachers/adults and most especially the bullies' parents DO NOTHING!

"Ignore them"
"Its just cuz they like you"
"They'll grow out of it"
etc etc

LIES!!!

I may be still alive, living on my own, in college and in love, but that does not mean I forgot the torture! The evil, sickening way kids behave... and get away with!!!!!!

May God forgive them, because myself, and most likely those poor children's parents, cannot...

[Sometimes I wish corporal punishment was enforced in these situations...]
