I Can Help You Cure Your Blushing

Can a blood test or urine test detect histadelia?

Yes, a blood test can show high histamine levels

Also did you have a fear of blushing (erythrophobia)?

Yes, I stopped leaving the house because of it

Can we not just take anti-histamin tablets?

No. Anti-histamines don't reduce histamine or even control it, they just change your bodies reaction to it. Methionine binds to excess histamine creating a new 'compound' and calcium flushes this out, thus reducing levels of histamine.

Blush, can you explain in depth the type of blushing you had? Was it triggered by social situations?
Please keep us updated on what happens when you get your results. :)

I don't have time to go in depth right now, but the worst of the worst. If someone caught me by surprise, if i had to go to a work meeting, if I sneezed (yes, i would blush when i sneezed), when I went to work and so on.

Cure - you are a member of ESFB channel

I have been trying to get an account there for about 2 years (when I first started struggling with blushing) and then one when I have cured it.

I see you have started a thread. Can you please direct the ESFB peeps here and tell them I genuinely want to help. Apart from that Enrique dude, of course ;)

yeah it's interesting, i remember reading about histadelia and thinking it might help to try and eliminate those foods. I cut histamine foods out for a while and took anti histamines, hard to say if it worked or not so safe to say i didn't notice any major changes in blushing. Wouldn't rule it out tho, i rekon there's something in it for some people.

Anti histamines (surprisingly) dont really help with histadelia for the reasons I spoke above. Similarly it took 4 weeks for me to notice any changes, it was quite gradual where i was blushing less and less, and then i couldnt blush no matter what situation I put myself in.

One week is definitely not enough time. This is a slow process, but then again, you are altering chemical balances in your body.

Done. I don't think Enrique is a blusher so he should not bother you.

wow, i have been been keeping up with esfb for years and was directed here. Never made an account cuz i thought i had nothing different to share than what everyone else has been saying, but this is the best thing ive heard so far. Glad to hear this may be a solution. My blushing is so bad that i wouldnt be able to even make an appointment to a doctor for a blood test.

So my question....would it be dangerous to start this treatment of supplements for around 6 weeks? If i dont see any improvements i would obviously stop taking them.

I wish more people could take this into consideration. It sounds like it could work for anyone.

I would go to get some blood work done myself, but I'm only 17 and my doctor isn't taking me seriously because of how many blood tests and visits I had with him.

I think Histadelia and Hypochondria are terrible twins torturing each other on a remote Greek island.

Blushing is a psychosomatic reaction, which means that it's very real (duh!) but it is controlled by the brain. So having a talisman, like an exotic dietary compound, will control it as long as the sufferer believes it will. Then I will say, "Whatever works!" But please don't drag a bunch of obsessive pseudoscience into it.

Declaiming blushing is a lot like tickling. It's a socially accepted form of sadism for someone to say, "You're blushing!", knowing full well that it will make you blush even more. The same goes for the tickler, who knows that you are terribly uncomfortable but hides behind the excuse that he's only making you laugh.

I got the results of my blood test and everything was fine but I don't think it's every lab that checks for histamine levels.

But I heard about a test that you can do at home to check your histamine levels. If you take 50mg of niacin (not the flush-free kind) on a empty stomach and you flush you have high histamine. If it takes 100mg to make you flush you have normal histamine levels and if it takes 150mg or more you have low histamine levels.

I don't know the accuracy of that test but I flushed like crazy after taking only 50mg. ::p:

Hey.

I found this discussion via google and want to share my experiences. I have been into the topic of Histadelia for quite a while and cured myself of OCD 1 year ago and lowered the level with calcium & methionin. I take a lot of other orthomolecular substances to maintain a good general health. As my condition got better I started to work out again and got pretty good in shape.
Over the time a got more and more moodswings and emotional flatness. I lived with it without really realising it. As problems started affecting my long term relationship I took the problem seriously and a new blood test showed sky high histamine. I immediatly stopped taking folic acid(is in my multitablet) and my high protein intake and also increased the calcium and methionine.

Within just 2 days my condition got soo muuuch better.

I forgot to consider that I increase my histamine with the high protein diet. The amino acid Histidine gets converted into Histamine via folic acid.

My question to "Blush" is related to bodybuilding. Did you find an effective way to maintain a low histamine level but have a medium-high intake of protein?
I build up good mass over the last 12 months and it would be sad to just drop that.Even though my mental state is much more important to me.

I have thought about some strategies to solve that problem:

- avoid folic acid supplements
- increase complex carbohydrate to maintain energy for the body before he
destroys musclecells to produce energy
- eat higher amounts of protein just on workout days
- eat smaller amounts of protein over the day instead of eating a few huge
proteinmeals.Too much protein at once isn't used properly and gets
converted into glucose
- increase methionine (2g per day is save/ up to 8g per day is save for
shorter periods/combine methionine with b6 to avoid a conversion of
methionine into homocysteine)
- consider SAM-e for started phase or periods of remission (but very
expensive)
- use other nutrients like vitamin c, b3 copper... (antihistamine
properties)

These strategies might be helpful to maintain a high protein diet and keep histamine low at the same time. But these are just assumptions by me.

At "Blush": Can you share some experiences with me? How much protein do you eat(2g/kg)?What food do you eat? Do you have any nutrition regarding my problem?

It's not easy to find answers as the topic of histamine isn't widespread even though it is a real condition with simple solutions.

Blush, do you have an email that I can use to contact you easier?

No, sorry.

Interesting. My histamine levels were high on blood tests (but differed quite a bit on different days), but I have also done the Niacin test and had the same results as you.

Isn't Histadelia curable? Isn't there some surgical procedure one can undergo in order to rid themselves of this?

Read the first page

I will buy bottles of calcium and l-methionine and start taking 1000mg of both daily.

And I will let you know if I see any improvements on my blushing.

Good luck, and be patient!

Sounds good, maybe a weekly update?
OK. I will get my l-methionine in 2 or 3 days because I bought it online so expect my first update in about 9 or 10 days.

But if you seriously think you may have high histamine levels don't wait for me, go see a doctor or at least buy some niacin like I did and do the niacin flush test.

Yeah my histamine levels seem to differ too. Sometimes I flush bad with only 50mg of niacin and on other days it takes 75mg or more.

Good luck, and be patient!
Thanks. :)

By the way Blush, how do you take your calcium and methionine? Do you take it all in one shot in the morning or do you take 500mg in the morning and 500mg at night? And do you take it with food or not?

Blush and Cure, I'm hoping you can answer my questions:

1) There appear to be different kinds of methionine (S-Adenosyl methionine, plain methionine, L-methionine). Could you tell me the exact product you are using? Is it likely to be available at local stores or do you order it over the internet?

2) Am I correct in assuming it does not matter whether the calcium comes with vitamin D?

3) Did you ask your doctor to test your blood for high histamine levels or did you just ask for a generic blood test? I'm a bit confused as to why Cure thinks the lab did not test his histamine levels. Also, Blush, did you get multiple blood tests? How did you know your histamine levels fluctuated day to day? I've noticed that I may blush in a situation one day and not blush in that very same situation the next day. Varying histamine levels could explain it.

Thanks for any answers.

1) I think methionine and l-methionine are the same or should work the same. The only one I could find in a local store was S-Adenosyl methionine but it was very expensive and I wasn't even sure if that one would work so just to be sure I ordered 2 bottles of l-methionine(what Blush uses) on bodybuilding.com for cheap.

2) My calcium bottle comes with vitamin D and magnesium too. I don't think that should be a problem. In fact I read that magnesium is likely to help for histadelia and vitamin D wasn't mentioned as something to avoid for people with histadelia.

3) Generic blood test. Don't do the same mistake as me. ::p:
