I've never had a best friend. My last friendship was 8 years ago. It was short lived.
I never cared too much for "friends" because I was always the butt of the jokes. Or get told "how stupid" I am.
I did get out of a 5 year long relationship 8 months ago, I thought he was my friend, but he just used me for money and sex. Didn't realize it completely until I got away from him.
People treat me badly, I gave up on making friends in elementary school. 28 now

It's been a few years since I've had a best friend or a friend. I think if I had even one good friend it could change everything. I would get out of the house more often and away from the computer. I guess the computer is my best friend - how sad is that. That Johnny Cash song just popped in my head - "what have I become".

I'm sorry you went through that, cappatown. Unfortunately that seems to be the plight of those with SA.

It's all good. Last year was a really bad year and glad it's over with.

I can relate to the whole being the butt of the joke as well, and being told I'm stupid, except the only difference is, it's my family who do that. Not some friend.
Sounds like a right arsehole, sorry. It's sad to hear you got used like that. :sad:
I haven't had a best friend since I left and drop out of secondary school - or high school as the Americans would say - 13 years ago. And he also happened to have been born physically disabled like myself. So, we pretty much bonded over that being f*cked up from birth.
But, like yourself, people treating me badly is pretty much why I've given up on making friends, or forming any kinda close attachment to people.

Do have one close friend since 2008. He knows about my issues and we hang out once every few months. He’s got plenty of other friends, so I’m not his go to for hanging out regularly. But I’m not complaining,
it’s nice to know I have someone to text, talk to and hang out with. Have trouble with making new friends, as my anxiety is quite strong. I did have other friends, but they got sick of the anxiety and anvoidance and gradually dropped away. But in some ways I can understand why they did.

I'm starting a new job and everybody is very friendly there. Going to have to practice talking to customers after a long period of isolation.

Oh, good to hear.
I'm sure you will get the hang of talking to customers. I know it can be daunting talking to strangers. Heck! I even struggle to interact with my family. Try not to let anxiety hold you back. :thumbup:

I actually met a friend here (thx SPW) that I talk to everyday, we’ll..we chat on messenger weekly for a few yrs now-but I would easily say she is my definition of a best friend in most every way only she lives in Denmark which s u x !
