Any anime fans on this site?

Just wondering if anyone else here enjoys watching anime(animated series from japan) or reading manga. This is what i do with the majority of my time these days because well, I just don't have much else to do and you can find some pretty good shows.

For those who are unaware of the term, I'm talking about shows like Dragon Ball Z, Naruto, Bleach, Attack on Titan, Sword Art Online, Pokemon.. etc.

That type of animation/art styles, although those are just some of the most popular examples. Anywho, if anyone else is into that stuff feel free to chime in.

I do. Although I haven't made the time to watch any new anime lately. The last anime show that I watched was the new Yu-Gi-Oh movie that came out. I saw the trailer of it and decided to watch it since I used to be really into Yu-gi-oh as a kid.

Pokemon definitely back in the day, but the longer the series went the more it went to sh!t, or still is. I'm not a fan of any pokemon series past generation 3.
Yugioh the anime used to be great, especially the original seasons and GX but after that its become practically unrecognizable to me.
I agree that attack on titan is a really good one, I can't wait for season 2 to come out. The same with one punch man, don't leave that one out.

I watched some anime off and one as far back as 2010, but never had enough time for it. As of the past year or so, however, I'm more and more into it. Love Shirobako, Psycho Pass, Madoka, Death Note, Toradora -- list goes on.

The cool thing about getting into something that's been around for a while is that there's a huge backlog of stuff to watch. I still haven't seen plenty of classic shows, and I'm currently inching through that backlog.

What's also cool is that plenty stuff is legally streamable. Samurai Champloo? Legally available right here. Trigun? Legally available right here. Madoka? Legally available right here. Shirobako? Right here. The internet is awesome.

I haven't watched most of those shows I listed besides DBZ & Pokemon. Just listing really well known ones for people who may not be familiar with the term "Anime" so then maybe they'd know what I was talking about. I have seen the 1st ep of Attack on Titan and while i can say it seems like a well made show and I can see why it's so popular, it just didn't click with me.

Glad to see some responses on this thread though.

I used to watch Yu-Gi-Oh back when I was a kid but I'll admit I didn't understand much of what was going on. All I remember is "Blue Eyes White Dragon" lol. Alot like how I used to watch Gundam Wing on toonami as a kid but didn't really understand much of the story due to the heavy political themes, lol. But i watched that whole show and movie last year and was able to appreciate it a lot more now that I'm older

I used to be crazy into Pokemon as a kid. The anime, action figures, games, cards, everything. I agree though it has gone way downhill since then. It seems so overly complicated now. They have God pokemon now that in the lore apparently created the universe and other pokemon and stuff. It just seems silly. Like how would a trainer ever catch a God pokemon if it's that powerful? Plus that would mean it's impossible to catch every pokemon. Idk it just seems like a mess now. lol. I prefer when it was just about trainers going on an adventure to catch every pokemon and be the best.

Like I said, I've only seen 1 ep but it seems to be an interesting show. My sister is a huge fangirl for this show, haha.

Ahhh man, Toradora was so good! One of my favs.

Some of my other favorites: Bamboo Blade, Black Cat, Anohana, Your Lie in April, Erased, My Hero Academia, Mobile Suit Gundam SEED, ReLife, Haikyuu!!, Full Metal Panic, Silver Spoon, Gunslinger Girl, Nisekoi, Chihayafuru, Gundam Build Fighters Try, Patema Inverted, Your Name, Bunny Drop, Sword of the Stranger, The Anthem of the Heart...

Ok I'm gonna stop with that, lol, but I'm currently watching two airing shows, Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans 2nd season & March Comes in Like a Lion. Both have been pretty awesome so far.

I like all of those mentioned except SAO. Too much fan service lol.

Haha, I know Sword Art gets a lot of hate but I honestly haven't heard that complaint as much. Usually about Kirito being OP or treating Asuna as a damsel in distress in SAO 2 I believe. Oh and people say the story sucks. I still haven't seen it though. Only heard people's rants about it.

I tend to find nothing takes my interest for ages then all of a sudden a lot of stuff comes along that I personally think is amazing.
2016 favourites were berserk, your name, the red turtle.

I loved Your Name. It was really emotionally impactful. I love stuff like that.

There's another movie that came out in 2016 that is my most anticipated anime that I haven't been able to watch due to it not being available anywhere on the net yet. It's called "A Silent Voice".

It's about this boy who bullies a deaf girl who transfers to his school for no other reason than that. He bullies her to the point where she transfers out of his school and this causes the other kids to turn on him and bully him instead. Years later he's older and runs into this girl again and tries to find redemption and right his wrongs with her by becoming her friend.

Here's a couple of trailers if anyone is interested.

WOOOOOOOOO! Season 2 of 3-Gatsu No Lion (March Comes In Like A Lion) announced!

I know probably no one here knows or cares what I'm talking about but I had to vent my excitement! lol. This show was one of the few things to make me happy every week so I'm glad it's coming back in October.

For anyone who digs the slice of life genre in Anime, I highly recommend this show.

I've seen a lot of different ones but just now watching the Studio Ghibli movies. I tend to like ones that no one would watch but lately haven't been too involved in anime like I used to I feel. Still I enjoy it. I have a MyAnimeList thingamajig I haven't updated in awhile because probably have 10 new animes to add.

I also like to watch Welcome to the NHK when going to sleep. I notice myself more lately enjoying stuff I've seen before because my attention span is shorter than in the past.

Just watched Little Nemo in Slumberland last night. Howl's Moving Castle the night before that, Spirited Away two nights ago.

I've only seen one studio ghibli movie to date, Grave of the Fireflies. Quite the sad movie.

I have some others in my plan to watch list on Anilist.co though. What are some of your fav anime you've seen, Steiner?

Oh and btw, isn't your avatar Jack from the new Samurai Jack season?

Yeah it is. Was a favorite of mine when I was younger so it's cool that it is back to finish it out.

Favorites would probably be Welcome to the NHK and Steins;Gate. Yu Yu Hakusho too. Also enjoy Toradora. Haven't read a lot of manga but also have Oyasumi PunPun on that list which would probably be an amazing anime if it was ever made into one too.

I finished Anohana and ERASED recently. Someone pointed out all the little spoilers and symbolism in the intros, which I'd never noticed on my own.

Thought so, wasn't sure though. I had completely forgotten about the new season til I saw your avatar & have now realized I missed the first ep, lol. Damn it.

I used to watch Yu Yu Hakusho back on Toonami & Toradora is one of my favs. Never seen Steins;Gate but my brother is a big fan of it.

Loved both of these.

I actually had it spoiled who the killer was in Erased because I overheard my brother & sister discussing it before I watched the show. If I hadn't been spoiled though, I still probably wouldn't have noticed the hints in the op either. I just don't usually catch those type of things.

I wound up guessing it a few episodes before it was revealed, but apparently you see it in the opener too? I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it.

I just thought he was in a weird place at a weird time some episodes, and seemed a little too keen on some things. And it would have fit perfectly.

Cannot say i'm a fan but i liked Berserk, Gantz (both unfinished in anime), akame ga kill, Bleach, Tokyo ghoul and Yamishibai (not sure if this one can be counted as anime lol), also enjoyed a pretty grotesque film called GYO: tokyo fish attack. Now i'm watching Parasyte :)
