I wouldn't look too far into it, it's possible it just had something on his mind and really was in his own world. If it's really bugging you, the next time to see him you can say, "Hey dude, way not to say goodbye to me the other day! " Just keep it light. He'll likely laugh and apologize and be aware you notice these things.

That said I'm like you, I make a point of being polite.
