Basically your little hobbies or interests or things that help you... and what softwares/techniques/materials/sites... etc you use to do it. Let me start it off... Hopefully this will take off.
Artweaver:
Freeware art program for simple paintings
Maya PLE:
3D graphics program
FRAPS:
Video version of printscreen. Records what your monitor displays.
VLC:
Helps me see DVDs on my laptop.
Terragen & Bryce (suggested by Renegade_Reloaded and Felgen resp)
I've yet to try it, but it is supposed to help you create realistic landscape pictures.
Poser:
I've yet to try it, but it is supposed to help you create 3d models of human beings. (Is there one for animals?)
Graphmatica:
Could be helpful if you're studying or teaching maths graphs.
Freemind:
Free mindmaps! Nice for students.
Gamemaker:
Game programming made simple. Good for a quick fun way into the hobby.

I'm looking for a freeware sound/music program that's intuitive to use so that I can manipulate or compose my own songs. Also, if anyone is skilled enough in Maya to create their own high level routines to autogenerate complex figures like the human body or have their library of complex shapes templates to share, I'd also be very much obliged. A freeware or even commercial program dedicated to training visual intelligence/memory directly would also be great.
Thanks!
Btw, I sometimes see a forum dedicated to schoolwork/homework in other forums. Where you can ask for help with whatever you're studying and maybe receive some advice from the other members of the forum.
