Time machine

You have borrowed a time machine for the weekend. The instructions say that you can travel to any place, any time and return with complete safety.

Where do you go? What do you do?

I would go back to the beginning of human history and prevent Adam from succumbing to his stupidity... after throttling him... a little.

not actually Fiona Apple
I would probably opt out of using it, afraid I'd mess up time and space, you know? The butterfly effect and stuff. But if I wasn't worried about that I'd go to the day before Thanksgiving 1989, to a certain apartment building in Manhattans upper west side.

There are three points in time I would like to revisit. December 1997 & 1998, as well as Johannesburg 1987... :)

In fact, I'd love to relive the entirety of the 90's.

The first day I'd go back 4,000 years to see if what a lot of religious people believe is true really happened.
After that, hit Russia and convince Marx & Lenin that their strange type of communism doesn't really work and they should try gardening or book-keeping instead.
Then I'd see Hitler in 1920 and tell him his art is the best **** I'd ever seen and to keep at it, and that he'd one day rank up there with van Gogh. And also to just forget politics 'cos it's boring.

The 2nd day I'd see what the effects were, and if all was good I'd head back and tell my teenage self a lot of advice about anxiety, to make a lot more friends and definitely get a few university courses/film school/whatever going because you're not going to die at age 22 and the job market sucks in the 00's.

And maybe get a roll of those root-beer flavored Life Savers they don't make anymore.

I wouldn't go back. I'd go 2500 years into the future. The way I see it, society will be either destroyed by then, or actually functioning the way it should. I mean just look where we are today considering where were just 2000 years ago.

I know enough about the past. It wasn't an ideal time either. People where a lot harsher then they are now (including such thing as homophobes, religious fantatics, stone cold killers, lack of medical knowledge, lack of normal knowledge). I'd rather go forward in hopes that humanity is better developed then. I'm not so sure whether I would return either. That depends on how much I like the future. :3

I would like to go back to the very moment my social phobia started and do something about it. Anything. Though I'm not sure what. Maybe I'd tell my younger self everything there is to know about life and not to take it for granted.
