I was just thinking that i use my username for a lot of other websites and just being self conscious.. i was thinking what if someone i know googles my username (for some reason or another) and my posts show up and they see how freaking ridiculous i am..lol :) i say this because a guy i know who lives in california.. i was trying to find his myspace account etc... and typed it in and other websites that had his username showed up... and since google has little synopsis of the searches ... some post i put up on here shows up... o well i guess let the truth be known!!

save yourself the potential embarrassment and make up something new for your username, or do what I did and use something ultra generic =)

But seriously, social phobia isn't leprosy. I bet as many people will take issue with your liking tennis as with your social phobia. Also, nobody really knows if all those profiles are you and they're not going to want to read dozens of posts to confirm it.

yeah i tried changing username which i did but doesn't show the new one.. anyhow, glad that my username doesn't show a felony for beating up a person that stared at me funny. that was social anxiety joke... :)

Well, mine is not unique and shows up on unix/computer related forums a lot, so if anyone were to google it and find this forum they'd probably think it's a nerd stereotype, and I guess most people wouldn't know it's me. (They'd rather think it's me hangin on the computer forums ^^ although it's not me.)

I go by other usernames in other forums, and there are only 2 people in my life who would think of searching me under this name, and frankly, they wouldn't.

I actually did this last night
I googled my email adress and it came up with some results from this web page
So i removed those posts so hopefully it wont come up any more
not really sure how it works

You could use a name that could be someones' real name, but has no resemblance to your own name at all. Every once in a while I google my user name on this forum and am always relieved at the sheer volume of hits I get. Yay me. er..Yay "me"

i have a couple of usernames,this one i just use in SA , AVPD and Self Help Websites, but if somebody find out my other username it would be very likely they'll find out a lot about my hobbies and my job.

But what hits me the most is that is my email adress, its on my resume, and if somebody look up on google will find out three things, i speak english, i know HTML and i download software and movies from the internet . i don't think its that big deal, only if i try a job at a major recording company or RIAA

It's unlikelly anybody would look up for your username , unless you got someone pissed off enought to hire a good detective, but in this case you should be worried with more important things like, your ass...

Just tried this. The first thing that comes up is a site called helyna.net, which seems to be some self-centered person's page all about herself. I didn't look far. (Sorry, but I'll only make a webpage for myself after I get a book published. And it will be about the book.) Then that person's DeviantArt. This site isn't on the first five pages, at least. There were only 9000-something hits, which is not much, but I think I'm safe.

you have a sister, you own a suzuki vitara, you play trumpeth, you play tennis, you probably make money or tryied to make with t-shirts, you have sold and bought stuff on ebay, a GPS, you had trouble with ebay/paypall last year, you have some sort of acne problem , you live in boston , you like mobile stuff, you probably have a Dell PDA , a HTC, you had a blackberry

i guessed it taking a look in the results, in the bright side, in this rapid look i took i didn't found your name or any document number witch is good

plz let me know if you want me to remove this from here

I don't care about this because in a way I prepared for it ahead of time. The username that I have for websites that I might get embarassed if someone I knew found out about it by looking up my username is a different username than the one I use for things that I don't care if people see. My username on here is even connected to a separate email with a fake identitiy so it can't be connected to my other usernames. So if one of my friends google my usernames they know they won't find these sites because they won't be googling livingnsilence.

yeah don't worry about removal.. i'm sure my life has issues but it's not too bizaree compare to others so i'll just go ahead and just post away... actually.. i'll just sign up under a new account.. better safe then sorry.
