Working ?

okay it wont be long before i turn 18 and im thinking of places i can work at that pay well. Although im 17, Im worried about if ill have enough money to make it. I dont wanna be looked at like, why dont you get your own place? (currently live with gramma) So where are some good places to work at that dont involve a lot of people?

Even the most "isolated" jobs (Night Watch Security, Long Distance Drivers etc) require some degree of human interaction. It's unavoidable.

Try not to seek out work where there are fewer people, that's very negative thinking, and also very limiting. Instead, try to seek out work doing something that you care passionately about and would really, truly enjoy doing. That way you'll meet like minded people who you could get on fine with...and this will hopefully help you with your social anxiety.

Start by doing voluntary work in the field you want to work in and improve your CV.

You can be and do anything you want to do if you put your mind to it. Don't limit yourself.

I totally agree.

I worked at two lousy jobs from 18-21, and I rejected all offered opportunities to better deals. Either because of SA or laziness.

Listen to his advice; you're 18, so you can still start life afresh despite all that bullshit from your past.

i think those still involve co-workers which will make things hard on you if you dont entertain them.

I wouldn't recommend moving out unless you absolutely have to... like if you were kicked out, etc.

Odds are you're underestimating the cost of living. It's not just rent you have to worry about, but also food, electrical/gas/water, and a bunch of other stuff that's usually taken care of when you live with family.

You'll be stretching yourself pretty thin if you can only get an entry level job to pay for all this stuff. Just bite the bullet and live with Grandma a few years more so that you can save up some cash.

I would suggest trying to get a job where you'll spend lots of time with people your age. Something that will involve lots of interaction with them. If you don't like the people or the work, you can always move on to another place. Maybe try a staffing agency, where they'll send you to dif jobs for a short amount of time. Then you can try things and see what you do/don't like. Good luck!

it all sounds great to me. i really like babies, so I think ill volunteer at children's hospital or something.
