Will, IRC is internet relay chat.
It was an unmodded chat room for people on the site.

Gunns, I thought so, but apparently I still can't get in :|

I just noticed this now. The yellow bar at the top of the page only says Chatbox. It used to say chat and then when you clicked, a menu came up that said IRC chat and Chatbox.
