What is wrong with me

I struggle to go out, and crowded places make it worse, I am having panic attacks and the odd bout of depression I take 7.5 mg of Lorazepam to cope. My doctor today prescribed me Escitalopram 5mg per day, I dont know if I should be taking this with Lorazepam as no one has said, also I am getting reffered to a psychologist to allow me to attend a self confidence class, but I run a sucsessfull business and around my staff I am fine (I have an office from home) Anyone got any knowledge that can help me understand what is going on or any advice on what I can do to cut down on the medicines, and if they can be taken together?

I am 29, a gay male with marriage pending, own house and car, medium sized sucsessfull business, I should not be like this ?

IBM: I don't think him being gay has anything to do with the problem.

Anyway, if there is a problem between the two different meds, your doctor should have told you about it, or you could search the internet for whatever info you need. I wouldn't use meds, though. They seem too temporary for me.

First off, IBM, being gay is not strange, nor is gay marriage I wish y'all luck.

My best advice though is to ask the doctor. Though, it seems he would've mentioned something if the medicines shouldn't be taken together. It's really the only safe way to know. And if he doesn't know....:lol:

I agree as well with what Pyrophosphate said. I don't want to use medicines, they work for a while and then they lapse, your body gets used to it and subsequently addicted to it. But if they help go for it.

I too can only be social with certain people. Most of them know I go through panic attacks. The important thing to remember is this is such a minor problem compared to having a terminal illness or something that can't be cured. This can be fixed.

If you want to build self-confidence, start talking to people you don't know so well. The reason you're fine with office staff is obviously because you know them. Get them to give you some encouragement, and maybe they can introduce you to other people which will help build your confidence as well as your circle of friends.

Everybody has some fear of something I'm sure, it's ok to "be like this". There's help out there.

I have been taking a small dose of cipralex (5mg) and wanted to come of the lorazepam 2.5mg to see if the cipralex could help, but I found the withdrawal from 7.5mg of lorazepam a day too much after 24 hours and I am now reducing the lorazepam to 2.5 - 5 mg a day. I have an apointment with the doctor in just over a week and I am hoping they will give me some diazepam to help me get of the lorazepam, I have been having panic attacks for almost a year, I have not been able to drive since Christmas and now I avoid people I dont know, even meeting up with family I dont see too often is too much to handle, even on the drugs. I will chat with the doctor and see if anything can be done.

Furthermore I dont see what my sexuality has to do with this condition.
