What do you talk about when you hang out with people?

I find that when I'm talking to someone or a group of people, I have nothing to talk about. When they do mention a topic, I respond but I unintentionally try to end the conversation quickly. There might be times when I've done it on purpose...depends on the person. But as soon as that topic is done, silence! My mind starts trying to quickly think of another thing to say. Something I watched, read, saw, anything! But no, my mind goes blank.

I've never been on a date. If any crazy person ever thought of asking me, I can't even begin to imagine how that would go!

I get it, man. One thing that helps with me is if they bring up a topic to ask them about it. Clearly if they brought it up they have either some knowledge of it or an interest in it. So you could ask questions like "I don't really know anything about blah, what is it like/what happened/etc". Or try to make a connection, ie if they said "I'm going to see the Dark Knight tomorrow" you could say something like "Oh, what did you think of the other two" or "have you seen the avengers" or something. I've only been on a few dates, and thats how I survived. The benefit of being a man is that most women enjoy talking about themselves and you can get along pretty well just asking them questions. So try asking more questions and then if you have a similar opinion or experience (or a different one), feel free to share it.

start by talking about the weather, clothes, surroundings in general. People watch and find a common interest. - just some random carnegie ****.

The thing you guys are doing here IS a kind of group talk of people with similar interests - only in written form ;)
