too much romance in the media

am i the only one who think that romance is saturating the media, such as movies showing love scenes, to rubbing in the fact to the single people out there that everyone should be in a relationship, and if your not you are considered "not normal" or a "loner"

I am just tired of seeing romance everywhere, i just want to die when i see people holding hands, having fun with each other, etc.. i hate it

Your going to feel that way about it as your single at the moment. Its kinda like when ya break up with someone, there suddenly seems to be an influx of romance of Tv and couples in the streets. Violence on Tv outweighs the romantic stuff these days though. They use stuff that sells.
Odd that violent films and games sell so well....scary world really...lol.

i prefer the violence over romantic shows, because romance makes me vomit violently, doesn't matter if i am single or not, makes me gag...

maybe you dislike it, and maybe you feel that it is being 'rubbed' in when you are single. Personally however i dont think you have the reason, or the right, to say that this is enough reason to stop others having fun.

But then i would take this stand point as im in a relationship.
all i can say is dont regret what others have, because theres always going to be someone who needs that something. Who knows, maybe you do to.

What? You actually vomit? Get some pills or something. That's an awful lot of vomiting you're doing.

I haven't noticed so much 'romance' as just plain old sex and sexual innuendo saturating the airwaves after the evening news until ~2am (when I sometimes watch). It's almost enough to turn a guy off sex

Hey I'm no prude, but the talk shows (Conan O'Brien, Jay Leno etc.) have actually become a bit tiresome with their obsession. Reference to genitalia and various bodily functions can be humorous until they occupy half the show. This between all the phone-sex commercials.

A comedian (name forgotten) with a heavy NY Jewish accent (for lack of a better description) said:

Movies are supposed to be a reflection of real life. More people I know have soup than sex, but you never see people having soup in movies.

sorry for the rant

Obviously its my fault but being agoraphobic its hard to turn on every channel and see couples and sex all the time, knowing that you'll never have that. To be fair, the media isnt rubbing it in, but for ppl on the other side of the fence it sure feels like it some times.

I, for the most part, hate romantic movies. Don't get me wrong, I like love movies, but it must be a quirky one or one where the characters are a bit weird. I love Punch Drunk Love - it deals with love, but it's not your stereotypical dumb romantic movie. I also like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. The characters are offbeat and I think it shows the reality of being in love - and falling out of it, etc. Those are what I consider good romantic movies. I think alot of us on here might appreciate these movies because it deals with shy people finding love
