Thinking about becoming a psychiatrist

Good idea. You'll understand things. But you'll also have to talk plenty...
I kind of want to be a child psychiatrist, but I'm worried I'll let my emotions get in too much.

Shouldn't a certified psychiatrist be mentally healthy? AKA no anxiety disorders... I wouldn't want to be taking advice from someone with the wrong approach to life and various situations....

All you have to do is say "mmm kay" every time the client pauses then give them some drugs that do jack all and charge them $120 so that you can afford your BMW.

That's only if you have a bad psychiatrist. Mine is great... listens & tries to understand everything I say & puts me only on meds that work with minimal side effects.

I knew I was lucky to have such a great doctor, but after reading some of these posts, it's a million times more clear. A lot of you seem to have horrible doctors.

Most people who want to be psychologists are a little out of the ordinary.

Not in the bad way either, just a little different and obviously a lot more introspective. It's like they want to investigate how the mind of others work in order to find out how they themselves click. Which is cool. Pyschology can be really informative at times.

Yeah, mine is good too, but I had a series of bad doctors before I found a good one. I think it's hard when you have a bad doctor because you presume when you're going to a psychiatrist/psychologist you presume they should work for you so you start blaming yourself for the therapy not working, people need to realise that there are right and wrong doctors for everyone, and if one isn't working, try the another one!
And yes, most psychologists and psychiatrists are crazy themselves! :D
