Shy children could be labelled as mentally ill

Basically it says that there will be new 'definitions' for mental illnesses and more people will be considered mentally ill.

Will this help future closet social phobics or is it just plain stupid?

I think it's asinine. Social anxiety disorder is completely different from shyness, just as clinical depression is different from being depressed over someone's death.

Parents should be thoroughly evaluated and classified ill before a child is. 95% of the time there is a problem stemming from mentally unequipped parents that make the child grow up having mental issues.

Shyness is a trait, not an illness. Shy people can fully function in society.
