The closest I've had to an LDR was this:
Years ago, a "Russian" "girl" messaged me on a dating site. "She" professed to love me in a way that I can only describe as creepy, and said she needed money to travel to me.
Needless to say, when I didn't send "her" anything, "she" got over me pretty quickly.

never worked for me, wasted years of my life, so i'll never bother trying again
