Seroquel

Has anyone used Seroquel for treatment for OCD. I have trouble taking medication because I have this fear that Seroquel will make me feel brain dead instead of less obsessive. I am running on no sleep because I can't stop my mind from racing and I also don't like the weight gain side effect of the medication. Although I am willing to give it a try if anyone has found success with using the medication.

I was on Seroquel, not for OCD, but for "Bipolar Disorder". All I can tell you is that it is a very strong medication, it's hard to not be tired when you are taking it, even on a very low dose. And I did just read on the internet that this medication is considered "dangerous", because of risks of serious side effects, like diabetes, high blood pressure, etc.

Seroquel is my favourite drug of all time cause it's the only one I can fall asleep and really sleep deep. I take 100 mg 1 hour before I go to sleep every evening and it does wonders.

And I tried many sleep pills. I now about the side effects but I take that risk cause I consider it a good compromise. I can say i'm deppendent. My mother also takes it for sleep and works the same.

I tried Seroquel on a higher dosage, 300 mg and it worked like wonder, but just for 2 days. I was tottaly desinhibated and didn't care about others oppinion.

Hope you find soething for OCD. All I can say to help you is to suggest to always find something to do to distract attention, something you like to capture your attention and leave aside those raging thoughts. Take care;)

I was on it for 3 years. It is a wonderful sleep aid although I don't have OCD I suffer from PTSD, Agoraphobia, Anxiety dissorder, delutions and I suffer form flashbacks and sometimes hear voices. Anyway yes I did gain about 50lb over 3 years but it was a good trade because it alowed my mind to calm down and gave me the ability to sleep. After 3 years the Seroquel did a number on my heart and now i have been switched off seropuel and put on zyprexa which works the same way. I hope that I've helped please feel free to contact me with any questions

I was prescribed seroquel for anxiety, but had to stop taking it as I could barely stay awake after downing a pill! It's very strong; one 25mg tablet made me feel like I'd been conked on the head and was fighting unconsciousness 8O

25 mg ? I had to take at least 100 mg to sleep. I've tried lower doses with no result.

But in the mean time, it became a way out of misery for me. I take 1000 mg to knock me to sleep to just forget about eevrything.

KIDS, do NOT try this at home!!! or anywhere else

I think I must be overly sensitive to it or something. When I take it, it feels like my brain is being held in a big pair of gloved hands and squeezed a little! 8O I know that's a weird description, but that's exactly how it feels. All the strength goes out of me and I just want to sleep.

If I took 1000mg I don't know what would happen... I'd probably die!

If I remember better, Seroquel is actually for schizophrenia, and it's usual dosage in this case is 1000-1200 mg, so I guess it's not a killer dose.

Anyway, I slept for about 36 hours at that dose...so it;s preety odd for ppl with schizo' to take that dosage.

Correct me if i'm wrong

Yeah, I looked it up online after I was prescribed it and I saw schizophrenia mentioned, which really freaked me out! For a while I thought maybe my doctor thought I was schizophrenic but hadn't told me so for some reason! 8O But I don't have the symptoms, and seroquel's also used for anxiety... so maybe I shouldn't panic, lol! Wow, 36 hours' sleep? I had a 15 hour sleeping marathon yesterday and I thought that was a long time!

I was on seroquel to help me sleep. It would help turn off all of those thoughts that I can't stop thinking about

Also low doses of seroquel like 25 to 50 mg. of it acts as a sedative to help you sleep. Although at higher doses such as above 100mg a day is used commonly for people with schizophrenia, bipolar and OCD.

Ugh. I'm not fond of it. I actually MAINLY take it for sleep, but on the side for mood control. Frankly, I don't think it helps me much with the mood control or anxiety seeing as my moods are still a little shaky and I still get regular panic attacks. BUT, it does miracles for my sleeping. I take 50mg every night like an hour or 45 minutes before sleeping. Maybe this is just me, but I don't recommend it if you are in a deep depression. When I was I was tired to begin with, and then the medication only made it worse. (I don't know if this happens to other people too, or if it's just how I reacted to it.)
