I found that video quite inspiring, actually. What do you think of it?

it really made me think, a lot. I'm a very negative person and seriously I never got anything from it. So now i'm thinking of clearing my mind and when I'm neutral, i'll try to go for a more positive route

Honestly, that video little annoyed me. The message is good, but idealistic and over-positive IMO. That girl sure have no clue what kind of problems some people have and they don't just start smiling and changing their attitute just like that.

"You can be happy" despite any circumstances? Just like that?

"Free yourself". It's that simple? Even if you are suffering serious mood disorders? Or you have very bad a trauma?

"The more gadgets we own, the more miserable we feel". What, why? What's the point of this?

Who defines what is happiness or what makes different people happy? Happiness is subjective.

Very interesting video. Added it to my favorites. I also really enjoyed this part:

“One evening a Cherokee elder told his grandson about the battle that goes on inside people. He said ‘My son, the battle is between the two wolves that live inside us all. One is Unhappiness. It is fear, worry, anger, jealousy, sorrow, self pity, resentment, and inferiority. The other is Happiness. It is joy, love, hope, serenity, kindness, generosity, truth, and compassion.’ The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather. ‘Which wolf wins?’ The old Cherokee simply replied. ‘The one you feed.”

It's not about what goes on or not in your life; it's about how you choose to deal with things. Clearly you missed the entire point of the video, and should watch it when you're not feeling so gloomy.

I have to say, the vast majority of what she said is backed up by scientific studies...

Personally, I think most of it goes without saying, it's so obvious... However, it can be difficult, otherwise everyone would be happy all the time. I fall into many of the traps... The only one which doesn't help me, is thinking how I'm better off than others... Maybe I am too empathetic, but then I just feel bad for them in addition to my own misery... It's obviously the way I'm thinking about it...

She was completely right with her point that if we try to show love, compassion and goodness to others, it will help to make us happier people, at least if we see that it is helping...

Love this vid, thanks for sharing. So many good points where do you start.
Ever wondered why celebs with all that fame, beauty, wealth and assets do drugs and alcohol so bad, and in and out of rehab? Now you know. :D

As Sacrament already quoted.. :)

This is the yin and yang of life. When we realise opposites are hidden in everything, we understand more, cope better, find solutions and so forth.
Every problem has a solution, we just need to find it. Find its opposite.

The concept of a "truly happy person" does not make any sense. One cannot just divide people into happy people and unhappy people. In case anyone forgot, human beings are more complex than that. Happiness is a matter of degree; it is like a spectrum. There are an infinite number of possibilities of how happy or unhappy a person can be at any given moment. Furthermore, where our happiness lies on this spectrum changes all the time. So, where on this spectrum does a person need to be and how long does this person need to be there in order to be "truly happy"? There are no answers to these two questions because we cannot operationalize happiness. If we cannot measure happiness, we cannot determine who is "truly happy" and who is not "truly happy," and no individual is able to give advise on how to be "truly happy" if that person is not able to determine who a "truly happy" person is.
