Science!

I love science! I am curious to know who else likes the subject or is studying/working in a field that requires scientific knowledge?
Whether it's pharmaceuticals or engineering I'm interested to see how many of you are interested in the field...
What are you studying? What interests you most about your favourite area of science? etc :p

(Yes, I am a little nerdy. But I like it...)

I'm studying/doing research in neurobiology/electrophysiology, but I'd like to go to med school (I apply next semester *crosses fingers*). The science of medicine fascinates me, especially when it comes to biological/cognitive/behavioral interactions.

I dabbled in plain psychology for a while, but once I caught a sniff of neurology and related fields I couldn't get enough ^_^

I'd love to know more about genetics and trees eventually. Trees are so nice I feel. Hope the world won't be devoid of greenery one day. Other than that, I'm interested in the ability to learn new things itself, particularly visual abilities and visual recall (which I am very bad at).

Make friends with the trees!!

Wow, I certainly hope you get on to medschool! Your degree sounds fun :D I wanted to go to medschool but my grades won't be good enough :( Physics is holding me back - I am no good at it. It sounds like you've been in uni a while! Is that like a masters degree?

I am studying Biology Chemistry and Physics at A level :p Which is right before university. I want to go to university to study Biomedical Science or Biochemistry!
What got me hooked was when I learnt about optical isomerism. You can have two molecules with exactly the same structure and composition yet one is flipped the opposite way round (in reverse). This tiny tiny change can cause massive changes in the body. Like in the drug thalidomide: one optical isomer cured morning sickness and the other caused shrinking of limbs of babies in pregnant women.
It fascinates me so.

I love science. If I weren't so terrible at math I would probably be into the quantum mechanics or astrophysics field by now.

I think you and me could get along nicely!

Yeah, science is my life's calling I'm sure. The only thing I know is, in school science was my absolute favorite subject, and a science course I took over the summer of '95 is one of my most memorable and happy times in my life.

I've since bought a 12 inch dob telescope because the universe fascinates me, and had fun times with it, but just haven't used it in years because it's hard to see anything from the city. (And the thing is really heavy)

Quantum mechanics is interesting because it's sort of the opposite of looking into space. Instead of very very far, large and in slow motion, it's very very small, all around you and in fast motion.
I've always loved mystery, fantasy, and what people don't know.

I love science too!
If I weren't bad at math I think I would have considered being an astronomer since I really like space science. Instead I've decided to just become a basic science teacher and share my passion and knowledge with those who are younger than I am. :)
