I definitely know how you feel. I always make up excuses to avoid certain situations even when I know I wish I could say yes and just do it. Afterwards, I always regret my decision, but I can't get rid of the anxiety and negative thoughts when trying to do something as simple as going out with friends.

I think at one point they just stopped asking me to hang out 'cause they knew what my answer would be.

No. I never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever get the chance to go to anything, or to even say no to anything, so you're way ahead of me. If someone asked me to do something, I'd probably say yes, even if I really didn't want to at all. You can't say no, when there is nothing to say no to.

Yeah same for me.. I think it go to a point were they just assumed I would say no 90% of the time and kind of gave up. I'd stress about what I was wearing or how I'd come across to other people and end up just turning things down with no explanation, which pisses people off because they think you're blowing them off or dismissing them since you never ask them to do anything in return.
