I have a penpal in Russia that I write to ever so often...she speaks German which I understand...anyway I haven't told her I have SA for fear of her reaction..haven't told her I'm gay either! I'm afraid she'll quit writing if I do. Should I tell her or just lie and say nothing? What would you do? :?

I wouldn't tell her at an early stage, i'd wait untill you have got to know her better. If anyone would reject you because of something like anxiety then they are not worth the effort.

I really don't think anybody cares at all if you say you're socially anxious, as long as you don't make too big a deal out of it. Nobody wants to hear you pitying yourself and saying how it's destroying your life, but if you just reveal it as an odd little personality tidbit then nobody minds. As for being gay, casually bring up some topics which give you a feel for whether she's homophobic or not.
