Personal experience of Social Anxiety/Phobia treatments?

Just wondering if any of you have any personal experience with treatments? I think it's time for me to seek help. Just wondering what types of treatments are out there...

I've tried a little Cognitive Behavior Therapy on my own and have had a little success with it. It's hard to convince yourself that new thoughts are true when you believe the exact opposite - I think maybe this is where another person comes in handy.

Medication works but then it wears down and no longer works... (at least that's been the experience for me - perhaps it has worked better for others?) and has too many side-effects.

Are there group-therapy groups available? Are these expensive?

Sorry, I am just completely clueless about actual treatments out there that involve other people. Maybe someone can link me to some good information on effective treatments? Thanks! ;)
