Out in the town

Hello again. Last Sunday I somehow get myself to drive into the fairly big town which is about half an hour from where I live. Other than learning that I absolutely love sat nav, I had a quick wander around for two lots of about 15 minutes with a break in my car in between. I was sweating when I'd finished. Couldn't get myself to go into any shops or anything like that.

I was thinking about doing it again and trying to ask people where the nearest (whatever) is or something like that. Just wondering what kind of things have happened to people who've done that, or if you have any tips? Maybe I'll get chatting to someone and, gasp, make a friend - yeah right. You can live in hope can't you.

My job is in an office on the outskirts of a small-ish town. I lucked into it as a temp and I work with some great people so to be honest I have it easy there. That town is a different one to where I'm talking about going. There's people, and shops, and a park, and things! :D Because it's bigger and slightly further away (25-30 minutes or so) from me there's less chance of seeing anyone again too.

I will think about trying to go into shops. Don't know if I'll be able to though. When I said about asking people something I meant basically posing as someone new to the town - which I am.

Damn waste of space. Went into a shop in my little town to buy a mothers day card - nobody else even in there - did I talk to the girl serving me? Nope, apart from 'hi'. At that precise moment it felt like saying anything would have been so out of place, and now I'm kicking myself, again. Bloody stupid. :(

Edit: Must add that it was relatively easy for me to go into this shop because it's a small one I've known all my life, and of course I was going in for a purpose too.

Didn't have anything planned but of course as soon as I'd walked out I thought of a list of things. I mean 'has it been very busy today' is an obvious one. Yes I thought as I was standing there that she might have liked someone to talk to her. But at that moment if felt like it would be so wrong to just start talking. At the same time I was thinking 'why aren't you saying anything!?' Ugh.
