new user of iontophoresis- can I ask for some advice?

Hi all, i am new to the site. I have had HH on my hands and feet for as long as I can remember, I am now 38. Like most people it has severely affected my life, I even changed career to one where I dont have to shake hands so often.

I decided to try iontophoresis and bought the Drionic (I realise now that this was a bit hasty as it does not get good reviews). I've been using it for about 2 weeks, 30 mins each time. I can really feel it.

I have a few questions and would appreciate your help.

Is it usual to sweat more after the treatments?
Is it usual that parts of your hand switch off before others.
I cant feel a thing when I treat my feet, even with baking soda added to the water? Is it still working?
Is there anyone out there who didn't have success with the Drionic but did with other machines? I think that the ionto is working, so I would invest in another machine.

Thanks so much for your help.

Find my answers to your questions below based on the experiences I have had after 5 months of successful ionto.

Q: Is it usual to sweat more after the treatments?
A: Initially I did sweat more, I took about 14 days to get the sweating under control. I think that around day 7 I sweated more than I did before. I used aluminum chloride based solution during the initial two weeks to keep it under control. I have read others saying the same thing, and that it is a good sign it will work.

A: Is it usual that parts of your hand switch off before others.
Q: Yes, I had patches of my hands dry before all of my hand got dry. Fingertips did not get dry until I started extra treatment for fingertips alone.

A: I cant feel a thing when I treat my feet, even with baking soda added to the water? Is it still working?
Q: It is the same for me. I don't feel a thing when treating feet, and hardly anything when treating hands.

A: Is there anyone out there who didn't have success with the Drionic but did with other machines? I think that the ionto is working, so I would invest in another machine.
Q: No experience with this, but google on "no ets" and I think you will find a website with a HH-forum and reviews of Hidrex, Idromed and Drionic. I think the site owner had no success using Drionic, but Hidrex and Idromed worked. I think that Drionic will work too, but you will have a hard time to get dry on the parts that don't get in touch with the water.

I originally started out on a Drionic 6 years ago and the switched to the RA Fischer.

Here's a little known and unknown SECRET about the Drionic:

1) You can use a regular 9v battery instead of the Drionic batteries. You can either position it just right or get an 9v wiring harness real cheap at Radio Shack. Your Drionic can also be converted into a plug in unit using a DC adapter.

2) You can take stereo speaker wire, purchase 2 alligator clips and attach them to the end of the 2 wires. The other end of the wires will each be attached to aluminum plates thats under the felt pads. Purchase 2 aluminum baking pans, one for your hand, the other for your foot. Attach an alligator clip to each pan. Fill the pans with water and adjust the dials on the Drionic.

You will now achieve complete hand coverage just like the expensive machines for a fraction of the cost. It's kind of like a homemade device except way better because you are using the circuitry of the Drionic to control the current flow.

Thanks so much for the advice.

I am actually going to modify the Drionic like sprawling suggested. I think that the technique is working, but I don't like the design of the Drionic at all.

The instruction manual suggests putting your palm in the water and fingers on the pad, but they are frying! I think its all down to the reduced contact area. It actually makes it too painful to continue.

Thanks.

wooh hoo!! I have taken your advice Sprawling and have already adapted my Drionic. It is so much more comfortable and I am feeling a lot more positive about the treatment now. I'll keep you posted about how it goes.

Thanks

Yes, indeed keep us posted on your treatment. You will now feel more even coverage on your hands and feet. What's great about this setup is the fact you can use the number wheel to control the voltage output.

Keep in mind that sometimes your fingertips are the last to except the benefits of treatment.

If this works well for you, maybe you can post pictures so that we can share this modification with others.
