Hello everyone! Firstly i wanna say thank you for taking the time to read this. I'm new here. I'm grateful for these forums as ways to connect with those similar to ourselves.

I went to the night clinic after suffering a panic attack and the doctor recommended Paxil. I took the generic version, felt great but noticed a massive weight gain. I'm guessing from this? Anyhow, so i did what most say you shouldn't do and i cut Paxil cold turkey. I didn't receive any side effects or felt weird. In fact, ive been off Paxil for months and still sometimes do suffere some panic attacks every so often. My night doctor also had reccommended xanax but only if a severe attack is coming, otherwise at the moment i am currently not on any anti depressants or anti anxiety meds.

My questions are have any of you put on weight taking these kind of meds? What meds do you reccommend if any to take for anxiety/panic attacks?

Thank you!

(p.s. one thing i've notice about having panic attacks for years is though it feels like i'm dying or very very ill...i've never had an actual pain from it lol)

Greetings and welcome to the forum.

I'm afraid I am unable to answer your question regarding those medications since, unfortunately, I have not taken them or investigated them thoroughly. However I sincerely hope I, and everyone else on the forum, may be of service to you in the future.

Hi, welcome. I've been on a few meds for anxiety and yes I gained weight from them, didn't even realize how much until after I went off them and lost 30 lbs. Mine might be an extreme case, but gaining weight seems to be pretty common, just try to eat healthy and exercise. All medicines have side effects! Stay informed about what your doctor's putting you on. Good luck!
