Mirtazapine

And when i was telling my doc about ocd today(which he's known about for years) he said to me, he actually said to me "And you have been diagnosed with this?" WTF!!! i told him that the counciller at his practice told me YEARS Ago i did well he said i had symtotms of OCD, same thing right?

My psychiatrist wanted to put me on this but warned me that weight gain was an issue with it. She said one of her patients put on a stone and a half. I chose against trying it for now at least. I have real issues with the way I look, I feel hideous enough without potentially having even more reason to. She did say it was very good though.

I think the main reason for me anyway he's put me on it is that i told him i have trouble sleeping, it's so hard for me to get to sleep most nights.

I was on Mirtazapine for about six months... I didn't experience any beneficial effects (in terms of SP) and gained about 20 KG'S..... I am not sure how the drug works, but after taking it for a few weeks my apetite changed... I developed a taste for sweets, lollies, chocolate, etc.... Hence the weight gain....... I would recommend it to anyone that wants to put on lots of weight...... Perhaps there is a bodybuilder amongst us.... You never know...

I was put on it a while back, and it didn't really help my sleeping.Though I'm highly resistant to meds so fingers crossed it might work better for you.It made me really dopey and..sort of washed out at first, but that did fade quite quickly.

I wish they would put weight on for me!I'm trying to put weight on for the gym,but I think I have a fast metabolism.I'm like a little kid for having a sweet tooth anyway, but I can't say I have noticed any cravings.

I am not kidding, your post really surprises me.... I put on 20 kilos.... You can verify it with my family and friends...... I suggest taking two tabs everyday for at least 3 months.... It may take a while, but if u don't gain weight, It must just be 65% of people...

Be forewarned, it is addictive! I was on it for 2 years and after weaning off I couldn't get to sleep. Had to endure several sleepless nights and headaches before I could get hold of myself. But it's a good drug while you're on it. Helps you sleep better and wake up better.

I was on Mirt. for about 6 months, in increasing doses.
Fantastic for insomnia - although waking up to use the toilet I nearly crashed to the ground like a sack of wheat, so I climbed (literally) back into bed & put it on hold til morning - and it mostly helped with anxiety. Not a miracle cure for me, like there is one, but I felt too "not me" after some months and went off it.
No adverse side effects from going off, and no weight gain at all before or after, most likely due to my insanely-high metabolism.
I do miss the easy-sleep effect, but a shot of whiskey + a few melatonin's help out now. (Not recommending that bit for anyone, just my own form of sleep-inducement)
I believe the highest dose they can prescribe is .45g(?), or 1 1/2 tablets, which I was on for 2 months.

I believe you,my Mum has been on it and she put weight on too.I am blessed or cursed depending on how you wan't to look at it with a fast metabolism. It's extremely hard for me to put or keep on weight.I have to see a dietitian over my weight so obviously I'm not a typical example.

As for taking two tablets,I will stick to taking one like my doctor has advised, like Hasting said I think the max dose is 45mg and I'm already on that.
