Love's Dying Light - a poem

This is something I wrote almost a decade ago now. :eek:

The bleakness of winter approaches fast.
The sole remaining ember of my fire
Glows faintly now upon the yellowed grass.
As heat escapes, so does my heart's desire.
The dying rays of sunlight fade away
And usher in the silent frozen night,
Whose coal-black darkness conceals skies of gray.
I never seem to do anything right.
The fragile flower withers from the frost,
Prepares to face frozen eternity.
No man nor beast can find once it is lost;
Frozen in crystal, hidden inside me.
But no amount of ice can bear the heat
Produced when flower and ember finally meet.

Hope you've enjoyed it, and thanks for reading!
