Lets all move to the same place

I think we should choose a place in the world and all move there and help each other to find work or set up a business ourselves. We can even have a secret handshake. Who is with me?

Sounds exciting!
We can have restaurants that all have only one chair at each table, supermarkets that all have drive-thru windows so nobody will have to feel weird in a store, more parks and libraries than the average city so all the loners can have nice places to veg, and maybe even ordain rudeness as proper etiquette since all of us know about the shallowness of eye-contact.
And city hall can just be a giant wall where everybody posts their message.

Oh what about security? I could build a city wall to keep out all the "normals".....and mongolians

It'd be horrible. Many of us would get stuck doing the social jobs to keep the town functioning. Who's going to be mayor, lawyer, judge, receptionist, salesperson, public relations person, phone support, etc? Could a workplace even function without anyone assertive in it? I'd much rather live amongst social people who can do all the hard stuff for me.

Nah it could work. We could import all our needs from the outside world. We just need a way to generate income to hire workers to come in every once in awhile to fix our potholes and complicated machinery. We could export something or work from computers.
Could be a utopia 8O

I thought about that too,a place where no one judges you to harshly, tease or mock you for looking different ,sounds good in theory and probably would be in the first generation, but a social hierarchy just like the world outside would develop with time I think.........

I don't mean that we create an alternative universe that is SA-friendly or free from the judgement of others. What I mean is that because our lives are so vastly different from those around us, and because many of us struggle to even hold down jobs, we would benefit from being together.

Most people tend to hang around their own type but we are such a rare breed that we would be lucky to find one person similar out of every 1000 we meet. I don't know about everyone else, but even with friends I feel alone as there is an entire aspect of my life, a very large aspect, that is hidden away. Before the internet there was no way for such people to organise themselves or find each other, but now it is different.

I have read many posts and lets admit it, most of our lives are pretty screwed up. Do you want to continue like that forever as one person fighting against a tide of people unlike yourselves, or do you want to unite and become stronger as a group? Nobody out there is going to help us but ourselves, that is, other people with these disorders.

If we lived together we may find that we are similar and we may develop friendships. Further, we can use each other to get stronger and get out there in the world, not to cower at home.

With a mission and as a team we will overcome our weaknesses and CONQUER THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!! UNITE MY FRIENDS, UNITE!!!!

Sounds good, but doesn't work in practice. Too complicated, for a starters where would this be: Antartica? I like your general idea though of uniting and banding together as a team (see my other thread). We are a community already, but I don't believe we are using our knowledge concentrated enough...we should put all our minds together in one huge brainstorm..

after a while the strong people with SA would differentiate themselves from the weak ones...groups would be formed, the weak ones will unite too against the strong ones...
==> as within 99,99% of the communities around the world, a strong force and a weak force will be created, and they will "fight forever", no matter how hard we try :(

right now we are "united" against our common "enemy", being society, the extravert people etc... but without that common "enemy", we would fall apart...
I'm sorry for criticizing your theory this hard, but that's just how nature works :?
my opinion of course

That would be awesome!
Even I have beaten the god damn thing, and it's just a past now,
I would deffo live there!
I think that all of the citizens of that Panicland would find their problems much easier
when they are surrounded by the ppl with the same thing bothering their minds, and listening and trying to find a solution together, how to deal with it in the most easiest way.We would be more social and it would be just easier to sit and relax with the ppl familiar with it
However,it can be resulted with an opposite effect too,if that society starts to live on each others baggage,
that would mean that all of us would be in fear together and as the time goes by,it could close us inside, more and more, not just towards outside world, between us,as well, untill we become useless gang of pale-ass,static,miserable,frighten,pessimistic nose-picking flowers, forever lost in the eternal garden of misery and a huge question upon it 'Why we'.
My statistic which is based on my own opinion and experience:
Succes 80 %
Failure 20 %

Succes would only come if the ppl comes out there as strong individuals, ready to face it,ready to take responsibility, and most of all, ready to work in a group, with a willpower of a Viking in his last battle!
And I gave it 80 % ,cause I think us,humans, are more then able to do it,still there is hope in me for humanity! :D

And now news !
Politics:Meeting will be moved for 7 days in front cause the President got 8 'heart attacks' and half of the citizens reported to ER,complaining about stomach problems with symptoms similar to 'food poisoning'...the other half tried to escape the police, but instead of that, police escaped from them.
Sports:Everyone likes football. But not the citizens of Panicland!
Yesterdays game between FC Phobia United and FC Anxiety Rangers has been canceled after 23 minutes of playing, cause both teams asked for ambulance, complaining about 'strange noise in their ears' Both goalkeepers couldn't catch the ball, because the sweat under their gloves.Minister of Health whispered to the reporters through his door that he has suspicion on attempt of 'mass control' coming from an unknown source.Police was uneffective.(look under politics if you want to know why) Crowd didn't came, they were cheering in front of their TV's.
Culture:Tomorrow, our famous writer will present his new book with the name 'Diary of a yellow'.Autographs will be signed by a robot which has the exact same signature,as our writer has a busy day...his...family came over,suddenly...many fans waited on this book 'anxiously' for years.
Economy: Actions of our biggest medicine company 'Sweat&Tears',are in the rising as their new pilots of a new anti depressant were tested and showed remarkable results!
Chief of testing sector told us 'It's awesome duuude' (before he ran),and the citizens are satisfied after a month of oral testing. When it's free,sumpor-accid can be sweet taste, even. ;)
Entertainment: Yesterdays concert of a rock group 'Call the Ambulance!' played the whole 32 minutes, after the crowd went to their homes.According to manager of the happening, the crowd reported heavy eye-tearing as a result of a 'strong wind'.The concert reminded more of a funeral then a rock show.
Beside that, the show get positive critics, especially for the live played version of their biggest hit 'Avoid the Eye of the Stranger',DVD will be on sale at the end of the month!Go out and buy it(if you dare)

A little humor always helps!

Why would the common enemy not exist? Like I said, this is not about escaping from the rest of the world. We have to go out there and get jobs in the real world or operate a business against the 'enemy'. Take lions for example, they form prides that are made up of extended families. They stick together to control areas of land and hunt for food in competition with other prides. Humans are the same. In modern society we have unions, business groups, extended families, and so on. The rich stick together and attempt to control much of society. People employ people they know. As they say, it is not what you know, it is who you know. On the contrary, those groups that do not unite are exploited and fail.

Yes, but we're a bunch of very different types of people. Social anxiety isn't much to have in common, and even there we have vastly different sorts of SA with different causes and different specific fears and different experiences.

I'm lucky if I find one person similar to me out of every 1000 posters on a social anxiety site (not that people have to be too similar to me to be interesting).

Yes we all have different personalities and groups form within any community. To say that social anxiety is not much to have in common is pretty ridiculous though. People who have a severe anxiety disorder have lives that are vastly different to those around them and very similar to those with the same problem. Anxiety is a fundamental human emotion that affects every aspect of our lives. Contrary to your belief that there are vastly different types of SA, many anxiety disorders are extremely similar, let alone the same one. I am sure most people here can look through all the posts and be very familiar with what people are saying.

People form groups or communities based on a let less then what we have in common. There is no level at which a reason to form a group becomes less valid.
