I hate this feeling and want it to stop, but it's hard when ppl continually tell me things. They seem to somehow get what they want with less effort then I put in. For instance my best friend got married in 6 months. His parents adored her, etc. On the other hand, I've been dating my boyfriend for a few years and his parents are still indifferent to me. There is a long list I could write about different things. It's hard to appreciate what I have because I feel like I could lose it at any moment. :( anyone else?

It isn't that not having that actually hurts you at all.

It's the wanting. Learn to let go of the wanting--that feeling is doing you no good.

Not sure how to not want it though lol :)
The Buddhists really got this one right.

I'm not a monk, but Buddhism is based on the 'four noble truths'.

1. Suffering exists
2. Suffering arises from attachment to desires
3. Suffering ceases when attachment to desire ceases
4. Freedom from suffering is possible by practicing the Eightfold Path

Letting go of wanting what you don't actually need isn't easy, but it can be done--and it helps with happiness and peace of mind tremendously.

Here's a link to a Buddhist site talking about how to let go:
