Issues with Avert?

I've been reading this forum for a few months now, sifting through old posts to try to come up with a solution for my excessive sweating. This might be a little long, but try to bear with me...

A little bit of background: I'm 21 years old, and have had excessive underarm sweating since I was in grade 6 (so around the time I was going through puberty). I seem to remember it fluctuating throughout the years, sometimes being awful, and others not so bad. It's never suuupperrr affected my life, as in I don't think it's every stopped me from doing something (other than, you know, raising my arms above my head for whatever reason), though it has been a major cause for embarrassment. I'm now going into my final year of university, and over the last year, it has been getting worse. Like I said, my hyperhydrosis was mainly underarm (with some lower back, but only when it was really hot out), however last summer, I began experiencing some sweating on the backs of my legs/bum in extreme heat. it wasn't a problem in the winter, but now that it's summer again, it's gotten a lot worse! To the point that if i'm sitting outside, I leave drops of sweat on plastic patio furniture, and my desk chair is wet to the touch after sitting for around half an hour (I do not have air conditioning). I also sweat enough that my underwear is completely soaked (TMI maybe?), though not enough to be visible on any of the shorts I wear.

So what have I tried? As a child, I apparently hid it pretty well from my parents. I went through antiperspirant at an alarming rate, and none of them worked. Eventually sometime in high school, I told my mom about it, and that I wanted to try Certain Dri, which I had read about on the internet. It did absolutely nothing for me. I talked to my doctor, and she recommended Drysol, which gives me decent results if I use it for about 3 days in a row, however I have also experienced some really nice chemical burns and rashes that I've sort of just put up with. I couldn't use it all the time, and it wasn't all that reliable anyways. I settled for wearing loose clothing or cadigans (which I find don't usually show sweat), and I change into comfy clothes when I get home from school anyways so it was fairly easy to disguise. In April we had a heatwave that caused me to completely soak a patio furniture cushion, and while no one noticed, it could have been so much worse. SO I started researching with a vengeance, and found this website. I read a lot about Avert/glycopyrrolate, and decided to order some.

Here's where the fun really begins: I started with 2 mg on an empty stomach, and noticed no change in sweating, and no side effects. So a few days later, I went up to 4mg. I had armpits as dry as bone! It was lovely. However, I also got horrible dry mouth and throat, to the point that I was unable to actually chew/swallow anything dry like bread, or even cheese without a lot of water at the same time. This seemed wonderful, however it wasn't that hot of a day. The next time I tried 4mg, I got the same side effects, and dry pits, but I still continue to sweat profusely on the backs of my legs. I've also tried 4 mg in the morning and another 2mg later in the day (again on an empty stomach) and it made no difference in the sweating, but did make the side effects worse. I also get some pretty intense facial blushing when I take the Avert. It happens pretty randomly, I haven't been able to figure out a pattern for it. The weird part of my Avert experience is that it seems to have a lasting affect on my underarm sweating. Up to 2 or 3 days after I take it, I'm still pretty dry, and the underarm sweating in general seems less. For example, I'm sitting here right now and my armpits are maybe a little damp, but my legs are slippery (gross I know). This is not usual, usually I would have at least the occasional drip.

SO. I apologize for this being so long. But I just want to know if anyone has experienced similar things on Avert? It just seems kind of weird that it would help my underarms, but not my legs. Should I try some different sort of dosing schedule with the drug? I don't have that many pills left, and it's expensive for a poor university student to be just experimenting with. I have a trip to Europe planned for the month of August, and I really don't want to have to deal with sweating all over the place while on vacation.

Another question: I'm planning on going to my doctor in the next couple of weeks. I'm going to bring the emails that I exchanged with pharmacy.ca, and I'll tell her about my side effects and stuff. Has anyone been able to get a prescription for glyco, and had it been covered by your drug plan? I have pretty awesome coverage, and am located in Toronto, Canada if that makes a difference.

My GP did give me a prescription for Glycopyrrolate. My extended health plan does cover it--though after doing that for a while they stopped. After long talks with the nice lady at my plan office they covered it again. It makes a big difference.

My HH is mostly cranial facial--haven't run into the other problems you face. I sometimes have the dry throat/hard to swallow things but think they're a fair enough tradeoff. There are mouthwashes and toothpaste that can help relieve the dry mouth.
