Is Life Really Worth Living?

I gave this topic a lot of thought and haven't come to a conclusion yet. But now that I think about it, there really is nothing to look forward too in the future. The economic crisis that we face currently will probably impact us for the rest of our lives. What's the point of going on if your waist high in debt? There's so much tension and conflict around the world, and it drives me nuts knowing that we're on the brink of war almost every day. Life's way too unfair these days. We grew up knowing that if we get a good education, our future would be filled with nothing but success. You hear stories of college graduates struggling to even find a job. Expectations keep raising the bar, and those who can't keep up are forced to drop out. There's no more social unity in this world. No one respects others anymore. People these days are so selfish and driven by greed. Natural resources are quickly being diminished to feed an ever growing population. I mean come on! Why does life suck so much right now? Why does our generation have to suffer for the mistakes of the previous? I feel like giving up on everything right now because from my perspective, the future looks bleak, and it's only going to get worse from here on out.

There is no 'Life'. Everyone's experience is unique, and the choices you make determine your experience to a very large degree.

Nothing at all? Unlikely.

There have been economic ups and downs ever since there's been an economy. Going badly into debt has a lot to do with personal choices. You are not powerless to affect these things.
There's so much tension and conflict around the world, and it drives me nuts knowing that we're on the brink of war almost every day. Life's way too unfair these days.
There have always been war and tension, and life has never been fair.
We grew up knowing that if we get a good education, our future would be filled with nothing but success. You hear stories of college graduates struggling to even find a job. Expectations keep raising the bar, and those who can't keep up are forced to drop out.
Some people were raised to think that, yes. The fact that it's difficult to get yourself a solid career doesn't mean that you may as well drop out of life, though.

Human nature hasn't fundamentally changed since humans became humans. People are as selfish and greedy as they ever were.
I feel like giving up on everything right now because from my perspective, the future looks bleak, and it's only going to get worse from here on out.
The problem is not the world. Many people living on the same planet you are don't see things that way at all. It sounds very much like depression is coloring your point of view. Depression can be sneaky and insidious and tell you lies. Your emotional state will lead you along certain paths of thought and to certain conclusions--they seem like undeniable facts, but when your emotional state changes, these 'facts' can disappear or change in importance. Other facts will appear and the overall picture can change drastically.

Wow! Truth be told, I wasn't expecting a response of this degree. I guess I should stop being so pessimistic. I had the same conversation with my father and he pretty much gave me the same response. Well, I guess the only way to find out is to keep on living. I guess I just kind of needed a place to vent. Thanks again for a wonderful post.
