Yes, you can essentially teach it to people, it's just a matter of knowing how. Everyone has their faults and a breaking point: If you can find a way to "reach" them on their level, you can pass on the "Social Phobia Virus" and they will realize and learn social anxiety like an epiphany.

SA is not an infectious disease. There is no SA virus or particulate or anything of that sort.

If you accept what Jake said, then it follows that you should also worry about them acquiring any other learned traits, such as laziness. Why single out SA?

Also, you cannot simply assert that SA arises purely out of experience. The nature versus nurture debate is perpetual - that means no one has the absolute answer and the best answer is that it's a combination of both experience and genetics.

I think so, because I know my dad only has one friend,not outgoing; my mother was always depressed, crazy moods and very shy, having one best friend that even she didnt even like talking to for months. That goes for all of my uncles and sister too. No one in my family I can say is a social butterfly. My grandpa and grandma were the last to throw parties and have many people around.
