Is it hopeless?

I've recently discovered this forum and it's been extremely depressing. I'm 26 and I've only had Social Phobia for 1.5 years and I hate it. I read on the internet that CBT is a guaranteed cure so I've been pursuing that with high hopes but now I read that most on this forum know about CBT yet some have had SAD or SP for decades.

How can that be? Have I fallen into a trap that I will never get out of? I remember when I didn't have it and I want to go back. It took about 8 months of continuous exposure to "the cause" to get it so will it take 8 months of CBT to lose it?

You all cannot be satisfied with living this way for the remainder of your time on earth.

I keep hearing the same things.. and I wanna start CBT.. but the people are probably not doing everything their advised on CBT sessions... r lucky, only 1.5 years :)

I assume and want to believe it has a cure, but you're going to need therapy, support, and will. And I suppose it will take time (not sure how much, I suppose it depends of the case), so you will have to be patient too.

We're not satisfied lol.

But all is not lost! CBT does work on many people, otherwise they would not use it! And there are many other forms of therapy too.

Plus your case is much less severe (only a year and a half!) whereas most people on this board have had SA for a much longer time.

We all have a future
