Am I just being paranoid but recently I've noticed bad 'panic attack'like symptoms. I am going through a really stressful time at the mo but I had these symptoms about 6 months ago after weeks of using ionto, I stopped for a couple of months and have now started again...bingo the symptoms are back!
Just wondering if anyone things it could be a side effect!!!! Does the current go through your whole body or works on your sweat glands just below the surface of your skin...
Sorry if I sound dumb....

The current necessarily goes through your body as you effectively close the "current loop" (sorry I don't know the english term for the dutch word 'stroomkring', but anyway, yes the current flows through your body). Since the current is pretty mild though, there's no reason why this should have any detrimental effect on your health in and of itself.

However, what I'm personally more worried about is the (probably tiny) amount of little metal particals that are absorbed by the skin. I feel like there isn't any proper studies around as to how much of an issue this really is (long term), but metals including those in stainless steel as well as aluminium (some plates are stainless steel some are alu) are known to cause health problems, including neurological issues (metal poisoning).

I've kinda been turning a blind eye to this issue but I have been doing iontophoresis for abou 2,5 years now and if I will be doing this for years to come I'd like to know more about it. I have found out there are some non-metal plates available but I haven't really read anything about their efficacy nor whether they have other health risks of their own attached to them.

Somehow highly doubt that the panic attacks are related to ionto. Stressful time are... well stressful. Hopefully things will work themselves out. Our lives are about balance. Sometimes we go out of balance in order to seek balance. Don't worry about the ionto. Seek your balance.
