ooo I hated speeches back in uni, but it was always such a rush once it was over. Just think about how proud and strong you'll feel once you get through it.

also, remember, people aren't evaluating you. They're evaluating the content of your message. It's purely professional. So I'd try to focus on the content, and just conveying what you want to say. That's the important thing.

When I was in college I just went to the disability office and got accommodations for me setup. All I ended up doing was doing my presentation in front of JUST the teacher and not the class :) I also used Klonopin and Addy or Ritalin. :)

I has to give a talk in front of about 50 people about a year ago.

I was nervous, but don't you feel more relieved when you get up there. I mean, I'm too focused on talking to be nervous.

One thing I do is to use as much sarcasm and humor as possible (within reason of course). If I get laughs, I know my audience is listening and that really relaxes me.

Find a person in the audience that you're really comfortable looking at and occasionally glance at him/her for a confidence boost.

Use your hands to elaborate and clarify. Audiences tend to get bored if the speaker looks like a penguin for the whole speech.

Develop your speech around 3-4 general points and put them into memory. That way if you get lost, you at least have an idea of where to continue.

Don't talk too fast. Again, if you move your hands, your speech naturally slows down so use that a way to control your pace.

That's all I can remember from my Public Speaking class. Good luck!

You can do it on your own... Any of the above mentioned may help but you won't get that feeling of accomplishment once you're done and out of there. Try to take the approache that it is all practice, the more you do, the better you get and the less afraid you will be the next time around. Just stay focused on your presentation.
