How Hard is College?

So how hard is it to go to a uni for someone with SA? I want to really badly but am absolutely f*&^%ing mortified. I'll get accepted for sure, you know what is the only thing holding me back. ::(:

I was reluctant too but I did go to college and now I have my BA ....

I'm not gonna lie to you, the college experience for me had many bad days and few good days but overall totally worth it and I'll do it again in a heartbeat ...

So... don't let SA control your life.. and just do it ...

It's okay. Like El Sonador said some days are worse than others. It is definitely not as bad as I thought it was going to be. Except for speech class. That class is killing me....

There are ways to avoid the classroom experience by taking online classes or even by testing out of classes and gaining credits on subjects you've studied on your own.

Probably a good way to help with SA I imagine. Most uni's have plenty of help groups, social clubs, and all kinds of student support services.

Don't avoid going, it's one of the best experiences you'll have, and will probably help with your confidence.

College wasn't too hard, initially. Because every freshman has that deer in the headlights look on the first day.

But when your dog of 10 years is slowly dying from renal failure, you decide engineering isn't for you and you don't know what you'll switch your major to, you realize you don't have any friends, you decide to spend all your free time playing your guitar alone in your dorm room, and eventually stop leaving your room for anything that isn't either food or going home for the weekend, then it gets a little rough. So as long as you avoid that part of it, you'll be fine. :D

Honestly, it must be EASY. Half the people on sites like this seem to be in college or done with college already. It's really... funny....weird... but like literally a lot of them seem to be doing college or done with it. It's strange... So it must be easy?

No not hard. I've learn a lot of things since I have been to college. For one thing I'm not as anxious when i go out now or as i was in high school, so in a way it helped me adjust to society a bit.

It was damn hard for me at the beginning, much worse than I'd imagined and I imagined pretty bad. I just ended up sitting in my room most of the evenings scared of talking to my flatmates :/ So i missed out on a big opportunity to make any lasting friends. But i'm so glad i went, i've learnt so much from the experience and my SA has got better and better. Go for it and don't let SA control your life, try not to even worry about it and tell yourself that when you get there you'll just take it day by day (that was my biggest problem, i just didn't see the light at first until i learned how to live in the moment a bit more)
