I worked full time in middle management, looking after large teams, writing business plans, business development, and looking after budgets worth millions of dollars.... but the people always sucked (just *******s, stupid, or corrupt) so I quit and started two businesses.
One business cost me $2k to start (because I needed to import stock from china / website), the other one cost me $50 to start (for the website, its more like consulting/ writing).
NEITHER of these companies require any real skills other than being 'street smart' (the second one requires great English).
How much money I make is directly related to how much effort I put in. I can work when I want, and go on vacation when I want - I can also claim most international travel on tax thanks to one of the businesses. The regular tax benefits of owning your own business are amazing.
If the business struggles its my own fault, and I have the ability to change the game plan and succeed without jumping through hoops to convince others something needs to be done.
However, I tend to work 8 hour days/ 7 days (roughly, sometimes much more, sometimes less) - but it doesn't feel like work because its my own, and something I actually want to do. I don't have to deal with people/clients directly unless I want to.
I wont be working 9 to 5 every day, or doing shift work on shit wages to make someone else money, ever again - its a pointless, mind numbing activity.
