Hope on the horizon!!!

Hi all,

Sorry for not getting back sooner (especially JR) but only managed to get to the doctors last Friday. She prescribed me Oxybutynin Hydrochloride, 2.5mg x 4 times a day. I tried this over the weekend and it made no difference. She said if it didn't work after a couple of days to take 5mg x 4 times a day which I did for the first time yesterday. I can with hand on heart can say that for the first time in nearly 40 years of suffering with firstly with HH and then compensatory sweating after surgery 20 odd years ago (that was the worst because it was all over my body) where HH was only hands and feet, I woke this morning with nothing, no sweating at all. I can't believe it!!!! The only side effect I have had is a dry mouth with I can cope with. I hope this gives you all some hope, I honestly felt a week ago there was none. Go back to your doctors guys and gals, I am not saying it is a miracle cure for all but I had the worst form of it for so long and didn't believe anything would work but it has.

I know what it's like to suffer with HH for over 40 years. I'm so glad that you found something that brings some relief. There is nothing like taking a vacation from the stress and wetness of HH.

As you say, dry mouth is a fair trade for dry everything else.

However, along with the obvious (water, hard candies) there are now products that can help. I use Biotene--my dental hygienist recommended it. They make mouth wash, toothpaste, and a gel you could carry around. They have simple ingredients and work fine for their main purpose too.
I'm sure there are other brands, especially in the States. This is just one suggested to me and that I've been satisfied with.
