hello~ just making a short introduction for now to say hi. i have been lurking for some time, finally decided to start posting. i have SA (not officially but all my problems are defined by it) and i'm trying to improve myself. anyway, a bit about me~ i'm from england (lincoln), 23 years old, male. i will be starting university this september and i'm totally dreading it!!. i don't have any interesting hobbies or anything so i'll spare you that stuff. there you go, nice to meet you! (yeah i don't know how to end messages, that'll do i guess). it's kind of sad that such a short post took me ~30 minutes to write, i find talking about myself really difficult ><

Heyyy Nyoron!!

I'm also living in England, and currently at university in Newcastle studying Geography and Environmental management. What are you going to be studying? And btw, don't dread it.....i'm in my first year at the mo, moving on to second year in september and I have absolutely LOVED first year. I suffer from SA too, but thanks to the counsellors at my uni, I feel i'm making prgress to get over it. I advise the same for you, if you are not already getting therapy, approach your university. They will offer you support, just like mine have with me. Which uni are you planning on going to by the way?

Hope this helps

hey~ i'll be going to to the university of lincoln. it's in the town where i live, so i won't be moving out or anything (the adventerous me wanted to study elsewhere, but i wouldn't let myself ^^). but thank you for the advice! i'll be sure to do so if i can; asking for support is very difficult though; a big problem of mine, i always think i won't be taken seriously, or that i'll say the wrong thing (i have a habbit of agreeing when people make assumsions to affirm what's wrong with me when i can't say it directly, leading to complete misunderstandings which i am never able to fix XD). anyway, i'm glad you're enjoying it, hope i can say the same sometime! thanks~~

Welcome to the site. Don't fret over it taking 30 minutes to post it. It took me about 5 minutes to decide on just whether I should reply. And when I post about myself is takes a long time as well.

Yeah well in a way I thought I would be judged by people I asked for help from. But to be honest, Therapists and counsellors are only they to help you, they do not judge and do take you seriously. I found it helpful talking to my counsellor because they had no background knowledge of who I am, where I come from etc they only knew me and my problem from what I had told them. It's your choice to tell them as much or as little as you want, bearing in mind that it is much easier to get over your problem the more you tell them. It is entirely up to you though. They work from what you tell them. I'm no expert though, i'm just telling you this from my own experience. The support I am getting from my university is also free so in my opinion you may as well try it.

:)
