Registered on here maybe 1-2 years ago but think this is my first post. Just wanted to say hi really. I'm one of the post-surgery members. Noticed people asking about ETS, my advice would be to avoid it at all costs. I had ETS in 1999 and re-done in 2000, + lumbar sympathectomy in 2001. Since the 'honeymoon period' ended in 2002 I have had severe compensatory sweating all down my back, and in recent years my stomach and chest too, as well as legs, groin and buttocks.
To me having dry hands and feet just is not worth the side-effects and limitations that surgery have brought (e.g. lack of energy, inability to play sport, having to wear two tops even on boiling days, lack of facial and underarm sweating so a constant burning / overheating sensation, etc).
Anyway, hope this doesn't come across as bitter, just giving my honest take as someone who is past the initial stages of post-surgery. Great to be part of the forum at last, and thanks for reading guys / girls. :)

I guess the key to remember to anyone having ETS is, "how long will the honeymoon stage last?" Compensatory sweating is serious stuff to consider.

Thanks for sharing JR25

Hi JR25,

your post has to be able to read in every ETS discussion.

Today was a really bad day as far as my hyperhidosis goes. I was hopeless for my future with this condition and thought about having ETS. With your post and further more being read the solution with ETS is way too risky.

The most people post their positive feedback a few days or month after the operation. But as you said the effect of it should last your life long not only a few month.
