Hi people,

Ive been reading the site for a while, and decided to join today and start contributing, as things have got quite bad for me!

Im a 30 year old male from UK, and have had social anxiety (with blushing!) for as long as I can remember, but it seems to be getting worse with age. I left another job on monday because it was making me really anxious all the time. Prior to taking the job, I was doing well, but I guess I wasn't testing myself.

The job I have left is in a call centre - so not the place for somebody with social anxiety to work! - especially as one of my fears is using the phone! Still, I wanted to give it a go because I hate being out of work.

Anyways, I wont bore you all with my story now... I just wanted to say hi, and I look forward to commenting on these really insightful forums. This feels like a place where people will understand my problem.

Take care all

Dan

Welcome to the forum. People will definitely understand your SA issues here. I think gradual exposure is crucial with SA and it must be backed firstly with a slight change in thinking, then another advance in thinking(ie. more life affirming, self assured thoughts) then more exposure and on and on. I believe too much exposure too soon without the backing of a changed mind will make SA seem more real and entrenched.
