Help me understand please. I don't see it.

Hello. My internist doctor says I suffer from bad OCD. He gave me the info to a psyc hospital where I can go and told my family to check me in for 2 or more weeks??? What? He was serious. The freeky part was my family agreed with the doc. Glad I'm over 18. That's freeky.

I refused to go under anaesthesia for a medical procedure because of other current medical factors. It was not necessary. That seems to put the icing on the cake for the doc.

Would I be aware if I had OCD? As you can see I am somewhat confused.

I usually "quick rinse" my hands before I touch food. Isn't that what they taught us as kids, go wash your hands before you eat? It is limited to food mostly.

I don't like kissing strangers. I hated it when I was a little kid because adults would smear lipstick all over my face from forced kisses. So after a while like around 3 or 4 yrs old I started to hate being kissed by strangers. A hand shake or hug is fine. Kissing is reserved for close people. So maybe someone that doesn't know about my forced kisses when I was little might think it is just OCD? Or is that OCD?

I figured since it's not one person maybe I should investigate.... OCD/Anxiety. I don't see it. But I am one and they are many... So here I am trying to learn if I have something I can't see my self. Just looking for a self check I guess. I want the truth.

I ran through the usual list... All answered no. They say do you feel you can't breathe. I have asthma. Do you have problems sleeping. I have pain from a medical condition which keeps me up. Do you wash your hands, yes before I eat I rinse with water or some soap and water. Will I eat food that falls on the floor out side, no. Do I like to take showers, yes one a day usually, although if working too long sometimes I have skipped a day. And if working out and all sweaty I would take a second shower.

Ask me anything or is this enough to say no to OCD. BTY I don't repeat things. Sometimes I need to make a list because if I don't I forget to do it. I heard that was OCD so I guess that every person that uses a date book or schedule has OCD too? What do you think.... Is it wrong that I am even asking this? Thanks.

Oh my gosh - you sound like a perfectly normal person WITHOUT OCD. Usually people with OCD recognize they have a problem. Their obsessions are usually deeply rooted in fear. Fear of contamination, fear of hurting people, etc.

Who am I to say though. I think you should get a second opinion (from another doctor).

Thanks. Just the doc and my family. My family makes fun of me because I rinse my hads all the time before I eat food with my hands. They said that is OCD. Na just this one doc. Guess I needed a self check. When family starts drilling down on you (hehe like they have OCD) about constantly washing hands before I eat it starts to get at me. But when all of them came down with the flew together I didn't. They deny it was because they don't wash their hands. They think it was spread through the air and say see that is OCD again. Yea whatever. I realize they are the ones that probably are out of touch not me. I don't like thinking that way but they base things on visual and not the facts behind things. I didn't used to wash my hands but I kept getting sick all the time. When I started doing it all the time before I ate I stopped getting sick period. Just didn't get sick anymore at all. So that's when I started doing it before eating. But that's when I am in a public place or around other people. When by my self I don't always wash them before eating. Washing them any other time would be pointless unless dirty since my hands arn't going in my mouth and there would be no urge. I'm thinking it is the urge to do something not if there is a valid reason. But no one ever asked for my reasons and I was just different from them.

Not all docs are right. Once doc told me that I had a deadly blood desease and had limited time to live, oh bty he said it was contagious. He confirmed he was sure. Geeze I went there for a ultrasound, ekg. The doc broke it to me when he walked in based on that fact I was skinny and looked like I wasn't sleeping. I tried to explain that I had a stressful job on 24 hour call and was up for many nights on and off but he said no not that. LOL then he said lets take a blood test to confirm what you already have??? I said how can you tell that someone has a blood desease with out taking blood? IDK he scared me so I let them take blood. Dumb doc I was fine. I should have sued. Had I suffered from anxiety I might have killed my self. Good thing I don't suffer from anxiety. That doc did the same thing to other people and was forced out of biz. I guess what I am saying is that I need to be stronger and maybe stop listening to other people. Next time I question my self it will need to be more than just a few.

The only reason I did is because I see people that have emotional problems that they can't see them selves. So sometimes it is nice to hear someone agrees with me that knows more about what I am talking about then someone who has no experience. The doc was not even qualified to say that and had no legal right to contact my family. Idk, what ever I'm passed this now. Thank you. How everything with you is doing well. :)
