The computer with spyware in it is about be repalced.
They already know my IP address.
Is it safe to come back online with a new computer or will they be waiting for me?
Thank you.
That's way overreacting. Your IP address is associated with your internet connection, and it's changed about every 24 hours.
What hackers do is write a virus, send it around to random email addresses or attaches it to random files on the internet. When someone downloads those files, they get the virus. I
highly doubt anyone is actually watching your internet connection or keeping track of your IP address.
The only way to get spyware on a computer is to download it from somewhere. Except in very specific cases, someone else on the internet can't simply break into your computer and put it there.
You don't need to replace a computer that has spyware on it. Just disconnect it from the internet, remove the spyware, and you're good as new. Any other computer is perfectly safe, unless that computer gets it's own spyware.
Do you have any antivirus software?
